When TataSky is adding more HD channels

Tatasky is recommending separate cables from antenna to each stb, 2 in case of HD+.
In simple words, there should not be any splitter in the path from antenna to stb.

This is difficult for those with common antenna and internal cabling - how are you guys tacking this problem?

Have you heard from Tata Sky directly on this?

yes - got a call from tatasky. They sent a technician who said "yahan sab internal cabling hai - kuch nahi kar sakte". Apparently when the channels increase, the clarity will reduce if splitters are used.

TATA SkY added a new HD Music channel - M Tunes (712)

yes I can see a new hd channel not but worst part is that this channel also have mono audio transmission. my all excitment went away now. TS should understand that how important is audio quality for music channels.

I am seeing an interesting problem since the software upgrade of TataSky. The HD channels through HDMI are not sticking , i.e. it shows the video for a second or two and then its blank black screen. I can see all the channels via composite cable, I can see all the SD channels via HDMI but no HD channel. I have already tried different HDMI cables, different monitors(TV/PJ) but its the same behavior. I have even tried direct TS to TV connection but same thing.

Anyone seen anything like this?

The TS guy has no clue about whats wrong and says it will take couple of days to replace the ST box

I couldn't find the option to add MTunes HD as a la carte option after login.

But on the main site, they have mentioned that it is available at Rs. 5 p.m.

Anybody added MTunes HD as a la carte channel

HTuser, you have to give them a call to add it, when I asked them why it is not automatically available as I already have the 100 pm HD pack, they said we have a policy of making the HD channels available only when the counterpart SD is subscribed by you, and they couldnt tell me the Mtunes SD counterpart, as it doesnt exist.:lol:

Tata Sky CC calls for seeking appointment for changing cables and within an hour I get an SMS informing that my work order number x has been completed by technician so and so. On complaining to CC, I get a call from local service center asking what the problem is and upon informing the issue, says that there was no need for any thing to be done, followed by another SMS of completion for work.
Who is fooling whom? Frustration...

My Onkyo detects the input from MTunes as DD 5.1 48KHz. But the channels do not come as distinct as they are in Star Movies HD or Star Gold HD.

I have 2 Tata sky hd+ and 1 sd box with me. Tata sky people called me up to offer free installation of dual cable on my setup so as to receive future hd channels.
when I told them that I have concealed wiring and I don't want any external wiring then the guy offered me to upgrade all my boxes for a total fee of Rs 1000. all the new boxes will have one year warranty.
he is saying the quality of signal will be the same as of dual cable.
even though Tata sky should upgrade our boxes free as they should have foreseen the need and hence installed a capable box to carry all the hd channels but still 1000 bucks is not a big amount and I am inclined to go for it.
TS people called me a year back for the dual cable installation and at that time I declined and looking at today's offer it was a good decision. what about those people who had gone for external wiring to get new channels? neither has new channels started as yet and now this offer of box upgrade. Tata sky is good but they have failed miserably on this technical aspect of dual wiring. they should have told us last year only that an option of box upgrade exists.
do any of you people have received this offer as yet and what are your views?
Will the pq will be the same as of dual wiring? also when are the new hd channels starting on TS? is it again going to be months or years?

Oh this is news to me. Just few months back I got the double wiring done thru my local electrician as the Tata Sky guys said that they would not touch the internal wiring. I paid my electrician 1000 bucks to get it done (for only 1 TV connection). Though the Tata Sky provided cable for internal wiring also and didnt charge anything, I had to spent 1000 bucks mainly due to 2 reasons:
1. Tata Sky sent a letter stating that if I don't upgrade now to double wiring, later they would charge me extra
2. As they kept on saying that HD channels would now be added and unless we upgrade, we cannot see the new channels, I was tempted to upgrade it soon.

Still I am waiting for the new HD channels. If this offer is true and just by upgrading set top boxes, there was no need for double wiring, I would have gone for this. Really really feeling pissed off now

Lets wait for other members to comment on whether upgrading of set top box without double wiring is sufficient enough...

The only reason that I am aware of dual wiring is to support Tata sky HD+ boxes. These are boxes with recorders.

The first cable is to watch the program,
The second cable is to record a program at the same time on another channel

TS has been in the process of launching the MOVIES-NOW HD for last more than 2 years. So that is the yardstick of their HD channel upgrade.

Not only TS but sooner or later there might be problem for all DTH providers launching new channels for want of transponders. Surely most of the DTH providers would not add any more HD channels due to lack of transponders availability. Please check this article

I agree with the problem, but they being the 2nd private operator in the business for last more than 6-7 years, should have fathomed it. If a new player can have a better distribution platform and more to offer, that means, they have done a serious business blunder. Even now, they are adding channels, but a pace which will take another 5 years just to have 20-25 HD channels. By then others will have atleast 100 channels in HD or even maybe in 4k and 3D. Anyway, I think they might have more than enough reason for not adding channels at a faster pace, and on top of it charging exorbitantly for them. Unless they comes up real fast by whatever means, we have reason to leave for other service providers who offers "more for less".

I migrated to D2H from TS Hd+, my point is that (may be wayward)why only 22 HD channels are beamed by D2h? We can understand that TS cannot add more feeds due to TP crunch, what about cable TV providers like hathway, citi, incable etc, Why they are stuck up only on 22 HD feeds? IMO TS should scrap VOD, showcase and active services by which TS will able to add atleast more 2 HD feeds

I am on the other hand is fed up with TS. Been using for 4 yrs now and my annual subscription is getting over in Sep and I am moving to D2H if TS doesn't catch up. What I hate most is that they keep promising they will catch up in weeks/months and nothing happens. This is not way to treat your customer.....guess any other country they would have got sued by this time....and above all they keep increasing the price. I like TS and want to stay with them the but running out of patience...

Last year they started SONY in HD after completion of IPL matches (SETMAX HD), We all were thinking that may be this year they can launch another HD Channel like Movies Now, or any other. But no luck :sad: ANY NEWS?
