When TataSky is adding more HD channels

Your anguish is shared. I don't expect anything good happening.

- Tatasky wants channels at lower cost to them which providers are not willing to oblige
- Tatasky has very little bandwidth; they have to keep some bandwidth free for events and emergencies
- Tatasky cannot get more bandwidth unless they use MPEG4 and shift to G-SAT (both are not very easy tasks)

I will suggest Videocon or others. If you wish to have more HD channels at a lesser cost, Videocon. TS will have more HD channels when Mumbai will experience thick snow like North Europe

I have stopped recharging for the last 6 months? after they hiked their HD access fees and changed their policy to include only HD channels which are covered in normal package. But I guess I am now ready to move to Videocon or some other provider which is more sensible than this egomaniac company.

I am thinking of resuming my DishTV connection. I believe they have an offer for suspended accounts. Have to check with their call center.

Thanks to ts availability of malayalam channels and hd access charges moved out of ts mega pack. Now kept it as a standby box and bought a video con. This is after being a customer of ts for 6+years.

for me personally, I'm just happy when my sports channels are HD .. our entertainment and movie channels are quite irritating with their censorship (I think BadBoys2 on Star Action was only 1 hr long!!) .. I am very happy downloading and watching HD movies and tv shows

I have also decided to switch to Videocon D2H as Tatasky keeps giving empty promises about increasing Malayalam channels - they had reduced from the original seven to only four now! All other DTH service providers have many more Malayalam channels.

As per this article you need to wait for at least one year to get many new channels

We have been adding channels in a phased manner; the process will now be accelerated with the MPEG-4 STB. By June-July next year we should be able to revise our channel offerings to consumers

It's old news. This statement seems to be just to pacify the existing customers.

TS has started adding SD channels with MPEG 4 from existing satellite, they are swapping the Mpeg 2 STB's with newer ones, they should have done this years back, at least they have started with SD, any way i am with Using D2h, every sunday i power on my TS HD DVR for 10 mins, I just love this piece of hardware!!

I am not sure what to do now. I am stuck for one more year with TS. Renewed for one more year and thought may be there are more HD channels after IPL. If they can launch one more HD channel for IPL they should launch at least one HD channel after that like they did last year after IPL and launched SONY HD.

yes. it's one month old news.a lot has happened in this one month. kedarnath tragedy comes to mind. so it's natural that it would seem to be old news.
besides as I said that this statement is only to pacify and fool Tata sky customers. what will customers gain if TS sues ISRO and TS wins. Will TS give some refund to loyal customers? only TS can benefit by suing ISRO.
I dare TS to sue ISRO a government agency.

Agree with you completely. Only 4 malayalam channels in TS. I have kept TS just because I thought it is so hassle to switch over to another DTH. I am fed up of asking TS customer care about this. They are ignoring south viewers !
I have decided to cancel TS connection now. Planning to buy Videocon D2H this month end. I could see DTH is more VFM and more number of channels.

Do I have to call TS for cancelling the connection.? Or Can I stop recharging the account and automatically will it get cancelled?

Not even south viewers they are ignoring all viewers. Other DTH providers has more channels (includes HD) (in all genre) than TS. Don't ask them to cancel the connection. They may ask you to submit all their properties like STB and dish (obviously they will no longer useful for you but). Just stop recharging the account and use your account balance completely. After that switch to your favorite provider. In this way you can go back to TS in future if required.
