Sadly,after they censor the shows, you may just end up queing up at Torrrent again:=(
Unless its a show like game of thrones, I can live with the censoring. Its actually better this way as I don't need to worry about kids walking in at some awkward moment. Not sure how I'll explain my 7 yr old what the uncle and aunty were doing jumping up and down butt naked....
Audio censoring is way over the top though. Wish they atleast had an option for a second stream of uncensored audio though (locked by default but unlockable at request and always protected with a passcode). Shouldn't be a problem implementing either considering the digital trend of cable tv these days. Still, not worth downloading a torrent unless the show has too much profanity (in which case it's, more often than not, not even worth watching).
I think, rather than censoring, the editing on Indian TV to fit time slot requirements is quite excessive. I was watching The Killing (the American version) and it was quite disjointed at places. I believe several scenes were just excised. By the way, the original Danish version is quite superior and far more moody and involving.

Agreed- some channels seem more paranoid than the rest- Comedy Central for one. Last night there just two words audible in a sequence that had maybe 5/6 sentences.
BTW - seems like TS may drop some(non HD) sports channels..
Folks, sorry, I just realised that it is STAR Channels that is promoting the new channel 'Star Premier HD' wef 24 Sept.- and it is NOT yet on TS or any other platform that I know of :=(

Looks like TS wanted me to eat crow again, just saw the ad being broadcast again -now with an ad-on 'Available on TS'

Bah. 60 bucks even for the Mega pack subscribers. Subscribed it for now anyways. They're showing promos currently. PQ seems a bit too sharp and grainy. But its a test beam so things might change before the channel is launched tomm. Also, I'm watching this in my office on my 19" LCD so not really in the best position to judge the PQ.
Anyways, I hope it means there won't be any advertising on this channel. Atleast no while the show is running. Will unsubscribe if there are ads between the shows, or worse, banner ads during the show. Not going to pay premium pricing for ad laden content.

Just had an angry conversation with Tata sky customer service. I am a mega HD subscriber and it was clearly stated when we went for the mega pack that all new channels will be added free. Inspite this I was told that Star Premiere HD is not part of Mega pack and I will have to shell out 60 bucks per mth extra! They want to change the rules of the game midway. Typical Indian business practices, taking the customer for granted! Even a so called ethical company like Tata is no longer what it used to be! Anyway I refused to pay and asked to speak to a senior but as usual all were busy and I was promised a call back. I threatened to change my DTH and was told that since morning many have threatened to do the same! I even told them that I would write about this on the various forums and expose TSs extortion tactics. I urge all FMs who are mega HD pack subscribers to express their anger to TS customer services and refuse to pay and say they will change their DTH provider. If we are all united TS will have to listen!

Seems TS had added a category called Specials which allows them exclude certain channels from Mega pack. So subscribing to Mega pack has no meaning! I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly start adding new HD channels and expect Mega pack subscribers to pay for each of them!

This is ridicules. I have a HD+ and a HD mega pack. I was clearly told that this insures and future-proofs you from any HD channel addition later, as you would not be paying anything extra. I will call them up tonight.
Already had the convo with tata sky rep. But knew he couldn't do anything so didn't lose my temper. The convo added with him saying he'll forward my concerns to his superiors/management. Not holding out any hopes.
All I'm assuming for now is that this will be an ad free channel like the hbo HD channels (not on tata sky yet). If I see one ad there in between the shows (be it regular commercial break or even a banner ad) I'll unsubscribe. Vote with your money. Should be more effective than shouting at CC rep IMO.

Will also complain- though I guess they will brazen it out. Wonder if TATA sons really keeps tab on what TS does. I have also posted on the TS Facebook page.

I totally agree with all of you. This is absolutely ridiculous. They could have worked something out well in advance if they were going to introduce a high cost channel. Makes a complete nonsense out of the mega pack. Have already complained on the phone. Will follow that with a written complaint.

I was very happy that after quite a while a new channel is going to be introduced. But Tatasky is fooling mega pack customers by not automatically including it. I am not going to complain. I am going to switch.

Spoke to customer care and same old BS. Guess they are used to lying and feel they can get away with it. Problem is other than Videocon the competition is worse... I've been cheated by AirTel more times than I care to remember (not DTH but with mobile, ISP and that's a company I will not do business with). SunDTH too my friend had a bad experience.
I got Videocon D2H for my parents (2 year subscription with huge savings) and its great but customer service is lacking... my mom dropped and broke the remote and it was a pain getting through to customer care and getting a replacement (even when I was willing to pay for it). Tata Sky customer care is great and response is usually within 24 hours... and their prices are great too... I pay 30-40% less than my friends using AirTel.
For now I've subscribed to the Premier HD channel just to check things out... and I'll probably keep it but not too happy that mega pack does not mean a thing when TS wants to call the shots for every new channel.

I have had to give in to TS's blackmail. The reason being that my wife is a big fan of 'Revenge' and 'Homeland' and she just didn't want to miss the next season!
