I kind of agree. Merely being current with America's NBC, ABC, TNT, FOX, etc. doesn't cut it with me. I can wait for a couple of months, maybe even a year. I watched "Friends", "Seinfeld", etc. well after they were over.

+1 to ssinghal and JFK ....I have still watch an entire show on the SWP -the annoying pop up ads really annoy me : though after I chewed out a senior exec. 2 years back those yellow envelopes very rarely linger on my screen! Do not know how - maybe they have subscriber key to non select for that? I explained to the Exec. that not all customers want to learn English or subscribe to a package when they already have the Mega Pack (though that counts for Zilch now) and we should leave the option of reading an alert unless it was an emergency message, to the subscriber: I also explained that the Editors of TOI or IE do not try and ensure that I read all the Ads or articles in their papers even though I pay for the paper as a whole - he sheepishly agreed. I think he was a Mr Nityanand or similar name from the Head honchos office.
This cross advertising various programmes often, obliterating faces and or sub titles is most annoying- this crass mentality is most pronounced across all the channels owned or controlled by the not so wonderful(in my book) Mr Murdoch. I am sure he would not let this happen on SKY or the USA channels - not sure about FOX though.Sadly TRAI does not even condescend to reply or acknowledge complaints.

I have been calling tata sky CC from the past one week. After having subscribed to the biennial mega pack, they are now asking me to pay extra for star premiere with about 4 months of my subscription left! Not sure how they plan to retain customers now! 240 bucks may not be huge amount but it is the daylight robbery that is putting me off! I have asked them to cancel my subscription and return my remaining money, which again gives them a chance to cheat me with my money. But well, I have decided that it's no point talking to these nitwits and want to get out of this crappy service. Have been telling all my friends to not purchase tata sky and about 5 of my friends took videocon d2h. That alone is giving me tremendous satisfaction:yahoo:

I don't have Videocon but I do have 3 TS connections and can say with certainty their PQ in HD is not all that great... a 2 GB rip of Avatar is like 4x better than what TS gives. Check some of the jungle scenes... you cannot see the blades of grass on TS but its clearly visible on even 700 MB rips with stereo. Coming to audio even that kind of sucks on TS because 99% of my movie collection (on DVD and Blu-ray) is DTS and DTS-HD MA and that's way better than what TS gives.
That has not been my gripe. With NetFlix I get awesome premium content that I can watch on demand at any time... the same cannot be said of any DTH service. In addition we are saddled with crap in the name of all these packs (this is my gripe) with all of these monthly or annual packs. I don't watch 99% of the channels that are part of these packs. I stick to the English Movie and Entertainment Channels. I don't even watch my language regional channels (Telugu) so the rest of them like Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, etc. are wasted on me. I do watch Tamil channels for music from time to time.
Now how about TS gives us our choice of channels for a reasonable fee? I pay nearly Rs. 300 with Make My Pack for just the English Movie and Entertainment Channels on SD... I'm sure HD will be more... so how is that cheaper than NetFlix? Giving me 101 things I don't need with my mega pack is not cheap. If I really calculate only the channels I watch vs. the mega pack fees it is expensive and that's true for most of us. I'm sure most people don't watch 95-98% of the channels they get as part of whatever pack they are subscribed to... but the channel we really want to watch like (Premiere in this instance) is not part of the pack. Why not give us the option of junking 200 channels we don't watch or need and instead giving us the 1 new channel we want?
No other service does this... well may AirTel who forcibly subscribe you to everything from caller tunes to mobile internet but none of the DTH providers are really cheap when you take into account what you actually watch (maybe 10-12 channels per family) and what you pay.
Finally, I think seeing Hi-Fi and home theaters are an expensive hobby I am sure nobody is cribbing about the cost of TS or even Premiere here... its the unfair trade practice of selling us everything in a pack (riddled with 200+ channels we don't need) and then not including a new channel goes against their TOS (never mind what their fine print says) that has most of us up in arms against TS.
If people see value in Premiere then they will not mind paying the Rs. 60 for it... I would pay just for Dexter season 8... but then again I would not seeing how much of it is censored and replaced with ads on TV... last season I counted 42-45 mins per episode on TV vs. 52-53 mins per episode on the net. In other words they charge us for it but don't give us 100% of what we are paying for, then they sell advertising space on it... and now they have crawlers eating up the bottom half of the screen right in the middle of an important scene... based on that I'd say the Rs. 60 is wasted on TS (but that's only my personal opinion).
Wait what? this thread is about adding of HD channels. How many in those 30 will be HD as per your so called 'info' ?? Please specify your source.

How many of these channels will be under the 'Specials' category? I bet TS will not loose an opportunity to maximise their revenue!I don't trust them to keep their word regarding Mega pack commitments!

Anyway, after using Tata Sky for more than 2.5 years finally said TA-TA and went for D2H. I had enough of waiting game and can't bear anymore that too after you paid more than what D2H is charging. Anyway, happy with the new connections though started with a big hick-up (ordered Platinum HD online, but was delivered a SD and they were not ready to buy the information that it is not a HD, but finally changed it for a HD). The box is a tiny one I ever saw, half the size of TS-HD box. So officially now I am a d2H customer, so no more rants against TS.
I think this is the classic case of killing the goose that laid the golden egg.
TS had the Mega Pack Subscribers in their pocket and most of them would have been loyal customers to them-if not for anything else, then just for the convenience of being assured of receiving all existing and new launch channels.
Then these TS buggers go ahead and add a high-profile channel and deny it to their Mega pack subscribers.
Now, their subscribers are not stupid nor unaware of what other DTH operators offer.
They will realize they have been duped by fine print contract clauses.
When the time comes up for the renewal of their annual subscriptions, they are just gonna switch to a lower pack or just pack out.
Who is the loser here TS? for a lousy 500bucks, you are assured of losing out on quite a number of your Mega Pack Subscribers either to lower packs or to other operators.

Agree on the same, they have become greedy over time and have started to charge more. I remember i took the Metro pack for Rs 300 and slowly steadily the kept increasing the prices. Now it has hit Rs 340 per month. So i downgraded to a lower pack and have started watching cable tv in my other connection at home where i get all the channels for Rs 200
These Tata Sky people are also having many dupe id's on various forums and on social media platforms like twitter which just promote their services and defame other dth

So Tatasky finally have added TenHD today morning but as usual with a twist. You need to subscribe to Ten Pack for this channel or 60 bucks a-la-carte. Mega HD pack users should be happy this time as it would be automatic addition to them.

Aha ! finally tata sky has added ten sports HD ! so which are the next set of new channels specially in HD !
