I have asked my brother son to get it from. Australia, majority dab radio. I don't find any here upto my knowledge. Maybe some one can come across the stores in india as well.

Hi
If you want a simple radio that has AM, FM, and SW then you can search on line. Amazon is selling such . I think you can get one within your budget.
Happy listening.

What you are looking for is a Worldband Receiver as it was called in yesteryears. Currently Tecsun make some good radios. Check for reviews here https://radiojayallen.com/

There is also a few Indian reviewers on YT. https://www.youtube.com/@pravindersheoran who can throw light what is available in India.

Or get a used Sony ICF7600GR, Sangean ATS 909. Sony no more makes one. Sangean ATS 405 or ATS 909X2 are current ones from Sangean but out of your budget.

DE666 from Deepelec or Quodosen DX286 may be somewhere close to your budget. Please check.

Imported ones are all Chinese. Even Indian made may be having the Chinese heart. Not that they are bad.

Does the DAB radio that you have other bands too? there is no DAB in India, is it there?

No DAB is working, i am using it only fpr FM radio
AIR is on DRM, and DAB radio would not receive it. There are many countries with DAB, DAB+ and under trial too. DRM is open source and that could be the reason AIR adopted it. But no radios in the market other than car radios.

Rarely, vintage Pioneer receivers with SW band are appeared in the used electronics market. But you have to provide the external aerial to pull the stations. The reception quality will be awesome when you feed in to an audio system. You can also try for the perfect condition vintage Philips Skipper transistor 4 band radios of 70s , those radios are very famous for Shortwave bands. Best of luck.

You got some replies above. Why don't you try for a car radio with AM, FM and SW bands. I believe these days they come with DRM and you are future proofed.

My friend had a Pioneer single DIN stereo in his car had amazing radio reception. The Kenwood stereo in my car which was twice the cost didn't come close to the Pioneer stereo

I checked current pioneer line up. They have SW reception too .. but not many SW left, is there any DRM car radio to recommend?

thanks for the replies.returning a xhdata D 219 which i got today itself from amazon because of poor reception.perhaps will cancel this radio ka idea for the time being..better is to audition one physically before really buying it.

XHDATA D808 is a good radio as per the reviews. SW is practically dead so you may not hear anything or some foreign stations. You may be better off looking for a DRM enabled car radio that is now available in India to cover AIR. Or look for a good AM / FM radio for now. If you want really good one C.Crane EP-Pro is a great radio.

Are there shops selling radios now to check one physically?

I do see some vintage and semi vintage AM/FM receivers on Facebook Marketplace. Are these not what you need?

I like the idea of using a car stereo at home? Maybe will try one at home with an old computer SMPS.

MaSh
