Here, your DAC will do the decoding, so your phone won't matter. It just has to stream to the DAC via BT or a wired connection.

ALmost all phones support aptxHD LDAC on bluetooth. So check that out. When you connect phone via usb to FiiO, you need to install USB Audio Pro app for best output.

I am on the Apple ecosystem, but for your requirement I won’t suggest iPhone. Your DAC has aptX and LDAC codecs, neither of which Apple gadgets have. So you’d be only transmitting SBC or at best AAC. Get an Android phone with aptX HD or better still, LDAC codec support.

But a more basic question. Shouldn’t the choice of a mobile phone depend on many other factors besides its BT usage for streaming? Unless you are looking at using the mobile phone exclusively for music streaming purpose. In that case, why not explore much cheaper Android based DAPs which are focused on music play, like FiiO or HiBy? Thereby you can also use it as a portable music player.

If your main focus is music, you could explore affordable options like Android-based DAPs or even a SafeLink Wireless phone, which can serve as a dedicated portable music player while still providing essential smartphone features.
For the best Bluetooth audio quality with your Yamaha RX-N600 via the FiiO BTA30 Pro, the Apple iPhone 15 Plus is good, but Android phones that support LDAC or aptX HD will give higher-quality audio. Top choices: Sony Xperia 1 V, OnePlus 11, Asus Zenfone 9, or Nothing Phone (2). Make sure to enable LDAC on Android for optimal sound.

Save your money and get the cheapest phone that has LDAC or aptX HD. If you want better quality, look at a better streaming solution. A wiim mini will get you much better results than anything based on bluetooth.

Second your opinion. Wiim is surprisingly good.
