Hello Everyone

Please share your thoughts and experience on using following speakers with Yamaha HTR 3067 , which will help me in finalising the speakers for me.

Got my HTR-3067 and a Polk PSW110 Sub. A pair of JBL Control One does the duty of surround. At present I am using Norge Millenium BS which is 4Ohm as fronts. As a precautionary measure I have set the max volume to -10db. So far it works and I have driven it to the required loudness.

Now I would like to get a suitable Front and Centre speakers for this setup and get rid of using a 4Ohms speakers. I have speaker stands and like to have 6.5" driver based BS.

Would there be any issues for 3067 driving the below ones technically ? From spec it looks ok to me.

Usage 50 -50 Music Movie
Room size - 10 x 12 opening to 10x10 dining area (L shape)

Mission MX2 - BS- 6.5",8ohm,87DB,25-100w,52Hz
Wharfedale 225 -BS-6.5",8Ohm,87DB,25-120W,45 Hz
Elac b6-BS-6.5",6Ohm,87DB,30-120w,44 hz

MXC2 -centre - 2x5" ,8ohm, 89DB,25-150W,56Hz
WF220c-Centre-2x5",8ohm,89DB,25-150W,60hz
ELAC C5 -Centre -2x5",6Ohm,87DB,30-150w,48hz

Bumping the thread.

Is Mission MX2 comparable to Wharfedale Diamond 225 and Elac Debut B6 ?

Anyone using Taga Platinum B40 with Yamaha AVRs ?

B-40s are similar sized ones like Norge BS, good that they are front ported too. Centre I think, C-40PR is from same series, but 88DB.

Hi

I think the tagas are good value for money spent coupled with performance....see hifimart for the latest deals....

Yes.. they are from the same series.. It should be fine for your room..

Try to demo once if you can and see what it has to offer...

Boston Acoustics A26 is also 89db tested and well established.

Initially considered, but I read in other threads that it may sound too bright with Yamaha. Also the Centre speaker from Boston does not have good reviews, almost everyone confirms it is muddy.Hence I excluded it.

Agree on this. Taga and Wharfedale are now in the top in my list. Second one is 1.5 time costly for a pair of BS and matching centre .

It is not bright at all. Its a neutral speaker. I am using it with Yamaha 481 from last few days and very happy with it.

Cant comment on Boston Centre speaker as I don't have, but A26 are brilliant.

Of course, it depends from person to person about the type of sound signature one likes.

Thanks

Update:

I bought a pair of Taga Platinum B40 Bookshelf speakers and Centre speaker C-40PR.
Initial impression after first 5 hrs of usage : They are decent for the price.

Since I am using Norge BS for more than 6 years, let me do a comparison.

Taga has got more sparkles and can produce deep bass and looks to reveal more details. Norge BS, I felt produce thicker or bodied sound and felt more refined than Taga. Hope this will improve over usage. Both of them get me involved in the sound when played. At any given volume level, Norge BS produced more loudness.

Watched Black Hawk Down movie in Airtel HD STB and the sound effect was excellent even without running the auto calibration setup.

I will update, how it sounds after few weeks of usage.
