Took the plunge today. The new Rethm Saadhanas are on order. Should have them end of next month.

Congrats Prem!

What is the significant difference between the ones you have & the ones your getting?
The change of driver & ....

:)

The old one uses the 5.5 inch Lowther. The new one is made in India and is a 7 inch single driver. So the bigger size would translate into better mids. Also the bass drivers and the bass amp have been changed to add more dynamics and realism to the bass.

Hi Denom

You must come and hear the system with the new Lyrita amp. Its very very good. You will be shocked at the bass. Actually everything sounds much better than what you heard last time.

Thanks for the invite Prem, how about next week(Saturday or Sunday)?

Hi Denom

I did not know you needed an invite to come over. Next weekend is fine.

Hi Hemantwaghe

Partners in crime are always together. It goes without saying.

Prem, speed has always been what people keep talking about the Lowthers. How do the new drivers in the Saadhnas differ?
From what you posted, I understand the bass is much better.

Hi iaudio

I have no clue about the speed. I have not heard them. I am going purely by Jacob's recommendation that this version sounds superior to the older one.

Infact the toss up was between Viren's new horn speakers and the new Saadhanas.

In fact between Viren and i, we had looked at upgrading the bass drivers to either the older Altec 515 with alnico magnet or the Lambda TD 15M and the compression driver to either the TAD 4001 or the Jeffrey/Dave Slagle designed field coil compression driver. But i had a dummy made of cardboard to see how it will look in my room. It occupies too much space. Hence the Saadhanas won.

Prem

Great speakers to start with, so the upgrade must be something special. Lambda is an uncertain quantity in terms of delivery. Unfortunately John Janowitz at AE Speakers has gone totally haywire because of many vendor issues-I have an original Lambda 12 inch sub from Nick McKinney, in a dual PR enclosure, and it isnt small.

Good luck!

Congrats Prem,

Am sure the mids will benefit from the larger driver though I wonder how different the sound signature will be from your previous lowthers...

Regards

Hi Stevieboy

Have no idea. Am going purely on Jacob's suggestion. Infact i have not heard any of his new speakers with the new drivers. Few on the forum who have heard my speakers preferred my Saadhanas to the new Maargas. That i am not surprised because my existing Saadhanas cost quite a bit more than the Maargas. Infact Jacob himself felt the older Saadhanas are superior to the Maargas.

Prem,

I believe the custom made full rangers by Rethm is nowhere close to Lowthers. Hope you are not regressing.

You may want to listen before buying....

Cheers.

Hi anilva

Thanks for the concern. Very difficult to take a call on these things unless one hears them in one's own system. I have taken many blind calls. Most of them have worked. Hope this one works too.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
