Hi, no doubt videocon carries the max HD channels but the only main drawback they have..........they dont support 5.1 audio!!! Only Airtel, Tata Sky and Sun DTH support 5.1 audio.

DTH companies that do not support DD 5.1 audio, should not be3 allowed to advertize HD services. DD5.1 audio is an integral part of the HDTV specifications.

Thats incorrect. I had been searching for this info myself.
Videocon does provide 5.1 audio....but it comes with a catch. Their boxes do not give you optical out or so. It can be achieved only through HDMI. You will need a receiver & TV with Audio Return Channel (both necessarily being HDMI 1.4 compatible).
I am unable to understand this. As for my info the Videocon STB has a SPDIF digital audio out which is capable of 5.1 which can be connected to the AVR. Further, even if the the STB sends the DD 5.1 signal to the TV the same can be routed to a receiver using the digital audio out of the TV so it is not necessary that the TV support HDMI 1.4 or ARC. Further if the DD 5.1 channel is sent through HDMI would it not be simple to connect the HDMI to the receiver and decode the sound and send the picture onwards to the TV via the monitor out.
I have read about several members having the proper sound equipment and reporting that d2h does not have DD 5.1 so I am not sure of it either.
