Working on Nelson Pass First Watt

I would love to have a seperate pre-amp? Are you building one?
I have no knowledge of electronics though. If you can build one for me it would be nice. It needs to match a nad 325bee for the preamp

PRE-AMP SECTION
Line level inputs (Disc, CD, Video, Aux, Tuner, Tape1, Tape2)
Input impedance (R and C) 20k? + 470pF
Input sensitivity (ref. rated power) 240mV
Maximum input signal 6V

Is there a DIY thingie compatible to these specs?

Cheers

Or are those specs for the source? duh ...!

Heres the main-in bit:
POWER AMP

Input Impedance 20k? + 470pF
Input sensitivity (rated output into 8ohm) 730mV
Voltage gain 29dB

In general is this the useful piece when trying to match a preamp or the previous one?

Cheers

Hi suds, it's nice to know that you are working on Nelson's First Watt amp.
Nelson Pass is a noted and widely respected designer, his MOSFETs are a killer!!!!!

Keep us posted, all the best suds.

Anil

Hello !

I am working on Nelson Pass First Watt Amps PCB, let me know if you guys would be interested too !

I would be interested in it a lot! I've been reading up on all the different iterations of the F series (not that I understood much ;) ) and am really tempted to build one for myself. However, the only factor that is making me think long and hard on this is the heat factor, especially since I am in Chennai...

I agree with cranky F5 IMO seems to be the one to looked at.
Which model are you looking at?
What are cost & challenges involved?
If you wanna want a ready made solution I guess Audire might have similar stuff, pl check as i might be wrong.
All the best
Cheers

Hi,

Sudheer Finally :p !! was waiting for this thread from a long time, today you post !!

Sudheer will be looking forward to seeing you in action here !! also please let Us know bout the other F series that you may be working on !

Please do post some pics and such so that we can see the progress of the project !

Regards.

First Watt F1 PCB Image ...

PCB's are Ready, costing around Rs.170 Each Board.
If I there is more requirement, based on nos costing will go less.

PCB Type : FR-4, 70micron copper, PTH , Solder mask, and Silk screen..

Also I am working on F3, F5 and LM3886 based, op-amp based Projects.. will post as I complete.. (there will be relevant thread.. )
also can help you guys with custom projects.. :)

I have pre-amp with variable gain ! but thats designed for 5.1channel.
If I find similar, same can be modified for your kind of use..
will start working on such pre-amps.. !

Errr. What exactly do you mean? Are you working on building the PCB?

Making Clone of NP Amps PCB different layout.., you might be ware of Intellectual Properly copy rights, etc etc.. one cannot make the same design, NP told me I can use the schematic and make Layout different from his original one..!

cranky

Which version? The F5 is supposed to be the best of the lot so far, and is easily tweaked for a variety of power outputs, plus the support thread on DIYA is huge..

I am finished, F1,

F3 and F5 will take one more week.

Yeh NP work is one of the best.. hear about him and his work everywhere on net.

here I have * Not made any changes to schematic * its just the layout is different.. if any one has their own idea, schematic changed.. contribute here..
