XBMC for Minix Neo U1

I am using Minix Neo U1. It shows XBMC 15.3. There is no option in XBMC to check for upgrades (or I could not find one). I saw somewhere people talking about XBMC 16.3

Q1 - How do I know which version is best for me? Though presently I am not having any issues with 15.3 but do I have to upgrade?

Q2 - How do I upgrade my XBMC to 16.3?

XBMC 15.3 is Minix version of XBMC.

If you need the latest XBMC, go to google playstore and install Kodi.

I personally feel Minix version is good enough as it has all the codecs and fixes required for Minix.

I have a 7.1 setup. I checked the option of upmix 2.0 audio to number of channels specified in "channel configuration". I have not seen where can I specify channel configuration (7.1 in my case) in XBMC. When I play mp3 (2.0) using XBMC with upmix option selected, it plays in all speakers but Yamaha receiver says its 5.1 stream not 7.1. Is it because of XBMC version or am I missing something here?
