Dude, stop giggling and tell us whats so funny:).

A mini-PC cum media player is the need of the hour and am glad both AC Ryan and Xtreamer have foreseen this. I have been feeling the need for one such device for the last 6 months or so.

After this announcement, looked for similar products.

Turns out, there is a category of such PCs called "Nettop". These are available with similar specs (Atom + ION) for $200.

Would be interesting to compare once final specs + prices are announced.

Wow interesting to see the battle between This and FLUX as a media player ... specs for xtremer looks better on paper, but UI, ease of use, quality YAMJ also plays a role. But xtremer seems to be also targeting towards an early HTPC. What ever it is future looks promising with the convergence of PC and Media player. Now more players would be jumping in with better and faster features ...

Wow Sam, so can Playon do YAMJ? All Playon models or just the Fluxx? I have been wanting to install YAMJ on my PCH, but haven't had the time.

Can someone also explain in a simple language (I got lost reading it:)) how to get the Ultra at 100 Euros?

What is so different between this and a nettop from Zotac/Acer...? Isn't this just a low power nettop which can run pretty much any frontend and become an HTPC?

I'm sure many on this forum are already using nettops as HTPC's already. So what is the big deal? Or did I miss something?

After having an HTPC and a Media Player (AC Ryan PoHD), my vote goes to an HTPC for its immense personalization possibilities.

Yes POHD can do YAMJ, but as I said the UI and the quality of YAMJ for POHD as against to say TViX is just not up to the mark. YAMJ on POHD has still a long way to go, but yes is does work. I have seen YAMJ on TViX and it ultra stylish and quality, very much in the lines of XBMC. I have yet to see another player which has YAMJ as good as TViX, sadly TViX lacks quite a few other features like HD audio (even with firmware upgrade). The next best is DUNE. Anyway that is something I am looking forward to from these next gen media player (or HTPCIB as they say), they might keep increasing the hardware but if the basic UI and YAMJ is not enhanced, it wont give a quality feel ....... xtremer ultra supports XBMC, so that looks promising ...... :)

Agree with you digitalv. Just that this one might end up costing lesser than a HTPC. I would rather build my own HTPC than buy a Zotac/similar nettop at ~20k. So, price will be the deciding factor and hope Xtreamer and AC Ryan will price it just right ~12 to 15k INR.

acording to the dealer the Fluxx will be priced at 20K or more for the Indian market.

And more over for this type of device we need to use a media player software with hardware only decoder (DxVA technology) as opposed to our regular software only decoder. I've tested the Zotac , when playing .m2ts files of 30gb in size via KM player/ VLC..... the load goes to the CPU rather than the GPU and the playback shutters. CoreAVC, ffdshow etc are all software only decoder.

cheers.

Nothing funny about it. I was just excited to see a small box with loads of features and such a good hardware. Hope the price will be good also and the device will be available at duty free shops cuz i will be travelling soon. :yahoo:

Its just DTS MA which TViX doesnt bitstream. It will downmix it to DTS. But it does DD True HD bitstreaming well. Build quality of Dune D1 is not good. It gets heat up very soon as there is no FAN. Ultra looks very really good.:licklips: Just waiting for the price.. :)

^^ its just one site MC Club that has reported some issues with heating, I havent come across any site that has said that the heating causes any performance issues .....
