Hi srikar2011

Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 is indeed true value for money and performance. I have been using the same over a year now and have no complaints.

Have you checked locally if the 377 is available? Electronics may sound cheaper when purchased from abroad but then one has to consider the step up / down converters, warranty, weight and ofcourse customs....it would be better if you would pick an AVR in India itself.

The Marantz + Boston combination works well, why don't you consider the NR1504? It may be only 50w per channel but is a performer when compared to its competitors....you can refer to related posts by clicking on my user name...

All the best...

Are you importing it to India (Or) someone hand-carrying it from US for you ?

Hi efernand1,

Yes Marantz is superior of all other receivers but it is premium for its price of 50k whereas Yamaha rx 377, I am getting for 40k within India or 30 if purchased from US. So I am in little dilemma.

I feel rx-v375 would be more value if you can purchase locally.
377 v/s 375 there are no major differences.
377 has some feature of virtual surround where you can place the rear speakers in the front. Not sure how good is that feature.

Other than that 375 has the discrete amp configuration and all specs same as of 377.

Srikar,

I have been using the v375 + Polk TL1600 combo for some time. Had got a super deal from the UAE. Guess you did have a listen when you came over for the projector demo? Be happy to showcase again. Completely satisfied here.

Many thanks Phradeus, for making me to recollect those wonderful receiver and speaker packages. It was my first demo and I can not foget the hospitality. I forgot those combo package especially the model no. Now its easy for me to take that combination straight away. Is it wise to purcchase the receiver from Amazon and polk TL1600 from india. As I see receiver is getting for 30k rs from Amazon.

Hi srikar2011

There are a few HFV members and some friends who had bad experience in product delivery from Amazon and other online shopping sites....you may want to thread carefully here and see your best options.

The RX V 375 is indeed a good receiver which has done quite well in the Home Theatre market and the 377 could be a slight step up version...you may want to do a side by side comparision on the Yamaha website to check...

I have used various brands of AVRs over the past 12 years and recently stumbled on the Marantz last year, did an extensive research over the internet and checked the AVR myself. Most of the AVRs available today support and provide more or less the same features when it comes to Home Theatre performance...if you want to hear clear music...most of them fail here and as suggested by most of the forum members and others over the internet, you are better off with an integrated stereo amplifier.

This is where the Marantz miracle worked for me....it has a 9 band adjustable equaliser for each speaker channel....this makes it audiophile enough to get the desired stereo music output and this works for me.

In short I hooked up my Pioneer Blu Ray player BDP LX 55 with Optical cable connected in CD input...this I use when I hear MP3s or CDs...
The Blu Ray player also has 2 separate HDMI ports.one for audio and one for video....the Audio one is directly connected to the BD input of the AVR and video is sent directly to the TV. This ensures better performance when I watch movies.

Very few brands like Marantz, NAD and Cambridge Audio consider the Music aspect when making AVRs. The Marantz is being sold over Hifi Mart for some 46k....you should check and see where else it is available for cheaper provided you want to go for it.

All the best. End of the day it is what appeals to you in performance and ofcourse budget.
