Hi,

I am looking for speakers to pair with Yamaha RX V571. Few points about my future set up,

1. I have bought so far rx v 571, WD live hub media player, 35ft HDMI and a PJ mount. Planning to get the rest of the stuff by July latest
2. Its for a dedicated room 20 ft x 13.5ft (with windows, false ceiling and a fixed screen around 110"), PJ Optoma HD20(yet to be bought but decided on it).
3. Movies : Music --> 80 : 20
4. More of a basshead (may go for JBL ES250W sub or Velodyne Impact :yahoo:)
5. Budget is 100k max for 7.1 (may settle for 5.1 if tight on budget)
6. Though want to go for bipolar surrounds, may avoid it if tight on budget. Focus is more on sub, front tower(or BS?!) and center in that order.
7. Not interested in going for speaker packages.

Please give your inputs for the whole set up (5.1 or 7.1).

Since a sub like JBL ES250 will take care of the LFE, I am looking for FS with very good mid/hi but average bass. Is something like it available? or should i stick with bookshelves then?(whose price is equivalent to FS so its mid/hi is excellent compared to FS)

I will audition in bglr based on your suggestions, taking this AVR along with me...personally i like klipsch RF 52's, Wharf 9.x, Heco 501(not yet auditioned but amazon.de pricing )

thanks,
saravanan

Look for more warm sounding speakers, yamaha is almost tad bright avr adding bright speakers will give you jitters unless you like getting some. :)

I have not listened to any of above speakers(suggested by spirovious)..which one of those are on warmer side?

Yes, for any denon avr bright speakers should be good but for yamaha you are right...i am not looking for too much brighter ones....

Objection my dear friend(mere kabil dost),current Yamaha AVR doesnt sound bright.I have warm sounding Tannoy & I feel I miss some details in midrange.
Out of the box may a bit,but after few hours, its not.
m.a.sara-I connected 667 to monitor audio speakers(surr) yesterday & I found sound out was detailed.I couldn't try with bookshelf though.

Cosider polk too.I have found that RTi series matches with Yamaha,Denon & Onkyo too.

I am a movie fan 80:20. What i like while watching a movie is speech should be clear along with other effects.

All i want to say is just don't neglect center while auditioning.

@talespin - could you let me know which CC you currently have? what is the strength/limitation you see in it? This will help me in my buying process :)

Hi

I also have a 571 receiver and I going to pair it with the energy rc-micro 5.0 speakers. These are satellite speakers. Will let you know how this setup is next week when I get hold on my speakers.

Thanks

Hi,

Disclaimer :D - My opinion is based on my liking and does not mean there is problem with any particular brand :D

Like you I am also hunting for AVR/Speakers, i am not an expert
So far i have these in my list based on reviews and features and i have not auditioned them. I am mainly interested in HDMI ports, network connectivity and play music files from network. I have read that Denon support more audio formats(network file play) than Pioneer.
Pioneer 1021-K
Denon 1912

I have auditioned following speakers and here is my own opinion. My main motive of buying is Movies and i like something warm and not too harsh.

Wharfdale 9.5 - They were good.

Paradigm Monitor 9 - They were bright and sounded harsh to ears, was playing Book of ELI/LOTR. But the center was better than wharfdale. There is one more member who had the same issue, it could probably be due to AVR or its like that only and made for people who like bright speakers.

DALI Lektor 6 - They were so warm and pleasant to ears but center was not as good as Wharf and Paradigm, will ask for experts comment refer to my post under speakers(Speaker comparison). Could be due to AV settings.

Ok I got my system setup and with the basic settings the speakers sounded superbly with the yamaha receiver. I am not able to believe that these are satellite speakers they sound so room filling without a sub. The dialogs are very clear from the center channel but when I ran the YPAO settings then all the clear sound went for a toss. I think the automatic speaker calibration of yamaha is not good it is better to set it up manually. Now I am looking at the setting again to get a optimal sounding speakers. Not sure what should be the correct settings. Would help if somebody owning the same can point out the optimal settings only for movies and I use the receiver only for movies. I am yet to get the sub which I am planning to DIY with the 12" which I am going to get from the recent groupby with the ApexSr amplifier as suggested by Danny.

Thanks.

@maniraj - hope you are enjoying your setup:)

what is your room size? Did you buy energy speakers in bglr? where and at what price?

@ m.a.sara

As i see your are more of movie buff, do check for sub from SVS, m sure members will agree on the tight bass you get from this subs, i m having SVS PB12 NSD, cylinder one and am too happy watching U-571, Behing Enemy Lines etc.....its just like feeling tremor

On speakers you can try for PSB but this might impact ur budget....

Cheers..

Yes I am enjoining my setup with energy speakers but slightly feeling the lack of bass as they are satellite speakers. So till I built my DIY sub will go with the present setup. It is just awesome how these small speakers do to your movie watching the clear dialogs and superb surround effect. I saw the Avatar movie today and just missed the bass but the other things were just awesome. My room size is actually a L shaped living room with an opening to dining hall around 20x15 feet viewable area. This will be size of only the living room. These speakers are actually filling the room quite comfortably.

I brought my speakers from Newegg.com and one of my wife's friend carried it from US. I got it for $169 last December and in fact was surprised looking at the present offer price at newegg.com for around $130. You can try borderlinx/aramex route to get it from US if somebody is not able to bring it in free as they are light weight around 3.5 kgs with packaging.

Thanks

i would love to own one of these :)
Are you using stepdown transformer? or SVS available in 240v?
Also how do you rate its performance vs velodyne subs? (if you had a chance to compare)

what other subs you had in mind before going for this?
do you where to audition this in bangalore?

rg,

Hi,

It is available in 240v, I got it from their distributor Audire Technologies in india/coimbator,

Infact i took this decision without audition as it was not available anywhere and just through few members who are using it and overall reviews on forums, this is one of which goes till 18hz

The moment i got his i just took its trial with DTS Sampler which has sequence of THE HAUNTED and then the depth charges of U-571 and my mind was blown off...

before i had demo done of same samples on B&W sub and PSB but m happy with my decision and enjoying every bit of it.

Cheers..

Hey,

I am getting the same one ie Yamaha Rx-A571. But I am a total audioneub and was hoping someone here would help me.

My budget is about 30-35k for the speakers, I could stretch a bit more But I was planning on building my own home theater so am just going for 2 Floor standers for now. Can anyone suggest a good set of floor standing speakers

Hoping to get varied options from the Masters
your ignorant Padowan

P.S: also suggest if I should go for any other receiver instead of Rx-A571 with alittle bit of price margin

Hi,

Since you are in Hyderabad, Audiopeople at Jubilee Hills have good deals on Monitor Audio at great discounts.
