Your Loudspeaker history

Congrats ! truly awesome speakers (And Heavy !) , a classic, and far better than the floorstander version. apparently their only deficiency was the crossover and if that could be modded it played in a different level altogether.

Used to know someone in Singapore who had modded them and was addicted to them

I actually remember about that. I read it in a thread from long ago when i was doing research on the d830 that your friend did some mods to it for tweeter crossover, what exactly did he do, do you know? or how he opened the baffle?.

I too agree it is better than the floorstanding 870 version. I feel the 870 will not be as fast and punchy as the 830 and the beauty of the 830 is the overly simple crossover.

Hey corelement,

That is a lovely speaker. The only one I actually ever liked from the Jamo brand along its floor standing version.

Try and pair it with an amplifier which do not have any kind of brightness and you will be rewarded ;)

Thankyou! Indeed the high range is supposed to be too forward on the 830 and is best matched with amps which are warmer. Luckily my CA 840a is relatively a warm amp. No harshness at all even at very high volume. I think it will be a match made in heaven.

Bhagwan Sir, what a speaker history it has been for you. Must be similar for other components in your rack.

My adventures so far...
1986 - Earthen Pot with Philips speakes during college. (Walkman+Some assembled amp+philips speakers in earthen pot, in those modest days, it was great joy.)
1992 - DIY Floorstanders, but did not like and bought Sansui S-950 from a friend
2008 - Mission m35i (Due for Upgrade)
2009 - Infinity Beta 20 (As surrounds in HT)
2010 - Yamaha NS-555 (Using them as surrounds now)

I'll get in touch with you when I am in Mumbai next time. I have never heard this speaker or anything similar before.

Super speakers are the ProAcs 140 ...did you get the Mk2 version or the older version? Which amplifier are you using with the 140s?

Yes, the Mk2, use with a Krell KAV300i - for the first time, I have the sound that I want, in my own home!

I'll get in touch with you when I am in Mumbai next time. I have never heard this speaker or anything similar before.

Sure,
You are welcome to meet me.
However, a demo of the Resurrection will not be possible.
It is packed & in my warehouse.
I do not use it.

I have used this speaker for less than 6 months.
The T.A.D. is what I use :-

If you are looking for TL speakers while you are in Mumbai you can also audition my DIY TL speakers and you will be impressed.

Cheers,

Loudspeaker history? For an audiophile, this is more sensitive issue than publishing ones Girlfriend history!! As a bachelor, I am concerned that a prospective bridge might browse this list and reject me for my numerous loudspeaker affairs ... not to mention being forewarned about the challenges of homemaking with an audiohile husband. I am really scared she might club me with the compulsive gambler types who will bring financial ruin to the family

heres my ultra-short speaker history

1) dads Bose 901 series VI - big speakers that ive never really played out LOUD. dad wouldnt allow :p

2) dads old Sanyo HIFI speakers (the main unit is as good as dead but the speakers still rock 80rmw @ 8ohms)

3) my Edifier DA5000Pro Xonar DX already ordered for PC.

4) future planning (6 months) - KEF Q300 (or a similarly priced floor stander) with the PM5004/CD5004 deal.

can you tell us a little more about these?

Sure;
With Pleasure.

This was a speaker that I got commissioned for myself in Italy by Mr. Joseph Szall.
It is a 2 way design.
a]
Woofer = ATD - Vapour Deposited Titanium - Magico Mini used to use this woofer in its speaker. 6.5" in size.
b]
Ribbon = Alain Bernard - ex-raven chief designer. Pure Ribbon made in France - No Commercial Speaker [I know of] has ever used it - cost constraints.

It is a TL = Transmission Line

I do think it is an excellent sounding loudspeaker.
Played well.
Works 'better' with Powerful Tubes - so I feel - sounded its best with the Audio Aero Prestige & Hovland HP-100 & Cadence Canasya - imho.

It is for sale - if anyone is interested.....packed & kept in my warehouse.

;)

Technics SBC 450 - 1988 still working just fine
