Hi all,

I am planning to set up a home theatre at my home in a room with dimension 20*10. My budget for home theatre will be around 1 lakh.

Since i am new to this, i am finding it difficult to find a good configuration.

Please direct me.

I have also read about the Aperion Intimus 4T Hybrid . Will it be worth?

Thanks.

Is the budget of 1 lakh only for speakers or would it include

1. Projector
2. Screen
3. Acoustic Treatments
4. Source (Cd/dvd/BD...)
5. AVR
6. Speakers

If you have existing equipment, it will help people guide you in relation to your existing equipment.

Is your room size exactly 20*10*10(assuming this to be the height) or you have approximated the same?

Hi sud98,
The budget of 1 lakh is for,
2 front *, 2 rear speakers, 1 center speaker, 1 subwoofer *and an AVR.

And i have no existing equipments with me , i have to start afresh.

And my room dimensions you mentioned is correct. (20*10*10)

Thanks

Denon 2311 + Qacoustic 1010 pack for 1 to 1.2Lakhs.
Denon 1911 + Q-aco = less than lakhs.

Onkyo 608 + same pack = 1lakhs.

Other spk can be from wharfedale.

Marantz 5004 or NR1501 for like 30-35k

If you want a HTiB, then Q Acoustics.

For music, Wharfedale 9.5 + 9.2 + SW150

I am still assuming you have some equipment like a TV possibly for display and a dvd player or a blu ray player to play the movies or atleast a desktop or laptop or a media player.

For avr and speakers, its generally good to have as much as possible for the speakers. So you can buy a slightly lower spec AVR like the Denon 1611 or the Yamaha 467.

Besides the options that Spiro... has given, you can also look at
1. Paradigm Cinema 70/90 5.1 option
2. Def Tech
3. Polk

If you have a dedicated room, you may want to keep some money for room acoustics as they may have a very a big impact.

Also, do remember cables will eat up around 10% of your budgets.
1. HDMI cable to TV
2. speaker cables around 100ft

If you are open to Other brands, i would like to recommend you Sonodyne Speakers from India Home Audio > Genie Series

Take a look @ Sonus 2605 V2 (24K) (or) Sonus 2504 (19K) + Sonus Center channel (5K) + Sonus Dipole (9K) + Roar 210 subwoofer (18K) (or) Studio Monitor Series SLF 200 Ai with remote (23.5K). This particular subwoofer is worth at least 50 - 60K if you buy it from international brands. You can adjust the frquency in 5 Hz steps from 40 Hz - 120 Hz. I don't think any other subwoofer can match/offer this kind of setup for this price. It is DAMN good.

Also you can look up for used receiver (With HDMI)10 -15K. You can find that in that for sale by owner section of this forum.

So for speaker + Amplifier you are spending close to 75K. the rest 25K you can invest in LCD / Plasma of your liking.

I had recently suggested this setup to one of my friend and he is certainly happy.

From the above combination, i would pick Sonus 2605 V2 & SLF 200Ai subwoofer as the top performer's compared to others brands in the same price range.

If you wish to audition them & would like to give a try, Audition them @ VIPUL AUDIO TECH, Chennai, 195/287 Kilpauk Garden Road, Kilpauk,Chennai 600010

Marantz or yahama AVR

Speakers : Wharfadale diamond 9.5 ... center 9cs .. 9.2 0r 9.1 for the surrounds and SW150 for the subs

Thanks sprirovious. Can you also help me to understand the distinct advantages of having speakers based on its type like bookshelf , tower speaker , mini speakers etc. which one will be better?

BS spk are mainly used with priority to movies OR space is the problem from music listening.Mini are compromised form.
towers are any time gr8 for both.
I read today Wharfedale Obsidian 600 cinema pack for Rs.43000 without SUb,but with Towers.(contact DAC)

KEF speakers are also good. KEF KHT-2005.3 can be got from PROFX for about 70k or slightly less. The amount remaining from the lakh can be used to purchase a good AVR. PROFX has Denon AVRs. If you were to buy speakers and AVR from them, I'm sure they could come up with a good deal.

Hi Sud

New to the forum

Just need some advise from you to upgrade my 5.1 home theatre.....

My existing set up

Sherwood AVR RD 6513
Jamo S 416 HCS
Pioneer 220KV HD/DVD player

Room size 10 x 12 Budget - 1-2 lacs INR

Start with the speakers, they appear to be your weakest link currently, and check out options for speakers(5.1) upto 1 lakh. If you are satisfied with say the surrounds, you could look at buying 3.1 and re-use the current speakers as surround and keep that budget for later.

You may get a lot of improvements by spending some effort on room acoustics, check out the threads on building a dedicated HT room.

Next invest in a projector and projection screen.

You can do it in phases and keep adding components as you go by.

I see a couple of reccomendations for the Wharfedale 9.5 along with a SW.
IMO, since the 9.5 is Bass heavy and lacks some mid range & highs, you should look at the 9.2 instead or perhaps even 9.6 as the mid range and Highs are definately better as compared to the 9.5s.

Thanks. Also i came to know that Onkyo 608 is 7.2 channel. Can this AVR be used for setting up 5.1 or will it be good to have a 5.1 supporting AVR. Kindly help me out.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
