Hi guys and gurus,

I want to buy a flatscreen as a present for my father in law at a budget of under 40k and was astonished that one could buy a 50 inch around 35k. Of course these are lesser known brands but amazon also offers 2 yr extended warranty at 4.5k extra so I'm very tempted. My requirements:

1. 50 inch screen
2. Budget under 40k
3. Smart TVs would be desirable but not a deal breaker
4. At least 3 year warranty

Had almost bought Sanyo but also saw this site https://bestgadgetry.com/top-50-inch-led-tv-india-best/ and Kodak is offering a 48 inch smart TVs at 34k on flipkart [emoji15].

What would you guys recommend?

Thanks.

Hi guys and gurus,

When the established brands charge a hefty premium for their products, these lesser known brands look very affordable.. In a way, it is good..

Of course these are lesser known brands but amazon also offers 2 yr extended warranty at 4.5k extra so I'm very tempted. My requirements:

Whichever brand you choose, double confirm with manufacturer if there is an choice of getting "extended manufacturer warranty".. If not, drop the brands however attractive price they may be..

1. 50 inch screen
2. Budget under 40k
3. Smart TVs would be desirable but not a deal breaker
4. At least 3 year warranty

VU provides 2 years optional (extended manufacturer) warranty.. Micromax sometimes provide straight 3 yrs warranty during festive seasons.. So keep checking the models & price.. Usually warranty information is not highlighted..

Vu 55 inch LED @ 41K - https://www.flipkart.com/vu-140cm-55-inch-full-hd-led-tv/p/itmeebefydz73z7t?pid=TVSEEBEFFXZHVZRW&srno=s_1_12&otracker=search&lid=LSTTVSEEBEFFXZHVZRWYB8NIY&fm=SEARCH&iid=3c07f06d-0f16-42e1-b4fe-710dbbb81cc3.TVSEEBEFFXZHVZRW.SEARCH&qH=e5d0c91cb8ec45d6

Additional warranty might cost you 3 - 4K..

One more better deal, Micromax 49 inch @ 34K - https://www.flipkart.com/micromax-124-46cm-49-inch-full-hd-led-tv/p/itmex3rxyhnuvueh?pid=TVSEX3RXYBRBMAE6&srno=s_1_2&otracker=search&lid=LSTTVSEX3RXYBRBMAE6M0LEIB&fm=SEARCH&iid=ff8534b6-5b52-4e9e-995e-6a4ef4db7263.TVSEX3RXYBRBMAE6.SEARCH&qH=e3136f0f5a076c1f

I use Infocus 50 inch model that i got sometime ago during sales for 26k. Its really good Tv color reproduction is very good with average black but worth every penny. Highly recommended

last year, I bought an LG 55 inch at 87K (81K for tv+6K for extended warranty).
At that time, I was not a part of this forum, and I didnt do any research on models and prices too. I ended up paying high price !!!

Its a good thing to look at lesser known brands at lesser price. Afterall...we just need good picture, connectivity, minimum features we need, and good warranty. If you are getting these in lesser budget, no need to run behind brands and paying high price i think.

I could have diverted that excess money to good audio components !!!

Ok, guys. The amazon sale has brought the prices down even further. I've narrowed it down to the following 3 and would reaaalllly appreciate your recommendations:

https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B0...948-45af-aceb-3eee4efd4f8f&pf_rd_i=9899981031
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01K4PKRKI/ref=psdc_1389396031_t1_B01ICVLK4I
https://www.amazon.in/TCL-inches-L4...8&qid=1507145172&sr=1-1&keywords=Tcl+49+smart

At the moment I'm leaning towards the tcl smart tv which is 30k and I'll add 2 year extended warranty for another 3k. Additional 3k discount on Citibank card and I have a smart 50 incher for 30k with 3 yr warranty. So 2 questions:

1. Is Sanyo a better brand than tcl? For 30k I can buy a smart tcl or a non smart Sanyo. Which one is better? Don't really "need" a smart tv but why not?
2. Should I go for the non smart tcl which is 3k cheaper? I have a 55 inch smart LG which I bought 4 years back for 1.3 lacs and the smart functions are lousy. What's your advice?

Would really appreciate your knowledgeable responses. Don't hesitate to suggest something totally different from the above 3 if it makes sense.

Thanks.

All the products you have listed come with either 12 (or) 18 months warranty.. Have you checked with respective manufacturer if there is an option of purchasing extended warranty ?

Panasonic is taking care of all the orders, sales and serivce for Sanyo. So according to be it has a better upperhand over the TCL. All budget models have lousy smart capabilities so better avoid it. A simple Amazon firestick or chromecast will do wonders.

Sanyo has a better XT-49S7200F in Flipkart ( https://www.flipkart.com/sanyo-nxt-123-2cm-49-inch-full-hd-led-tv/p/itmewdeexgvack2j ). Don't ask how it's better apart from model number increment i couldn't find any credible difference. If you find any just post here.

The reviews of Sanyo were better than the others, and also the TCL model which you shared were a year old models. Not sure about the Sanyo models.

I would'be better inclined to Sanyo. Good luck on you.

And one more last thing, Sanyo is from Japan and TCL is from you know where :p

Thanks boss. Your detailed views are much appreciated. But as pointed out elsewhere in this forum, Sanyo is probably also sourcing from you know where [emoji6]. Seriously though, I'm more inclined towards Sanyo as it's a much better known brand.

No, not really. I guess I just haven't found any good Vu deals yet. Can you point me in the right direction please?

I myself not so sure but a 49 incher VU 6535 without any smart capabilities is being offered at flipkart @29,999.00.The reviews got me attracted. It has got an IPS panel.
However your choice of the sanyo model has an obvious advantage of additional warranty.
I m also vacillating between branded as well as lesser known ones:mad:

Micromax 50 inch FHD LED TV come with straight 3 yrs warranty and costs abt 30K (or) less with all those cash back offer, which betters the VU offer IMO..

Thanks, and also consider the XT-49S7200F instead of the XT-49S7100F since the launch year is 2017 and the price difference of 2000 doesn't matter much. Panasonic is providing additional one year extra warranty on the Flipkart.

Appears to be a good deal:)
The only gripe is that I couldn't find a 49" fhd micromax for 30K or less:indifferent14:
A 49 incher fhd listed at flipkart shows 33.9K:sad:Also it has got poor brightness as well as contrast ratio..

Thanks but is it better than Sanyo which is the same price with 1+2 yrs warranty(after cash back)? Isn't Sanyo the better brand? Any additional features in the Micromax?
