A Hotter Future Is Certain, but How Hot Is Up to Us.

This is a very serious and important topic. We all should contribute to escape from the catastrophic effects of climate change.

If we can ban building structures with Glass walls, stop usage of single use plastic packaging materials then there will be a significant improvement (may be 10%) in the situation.

But replacing all class A amps in this word with class D will make a very little improvement (may be 0.1%)

These figures are purely speculative. But moral of the story is the contribution of class A amp users are negligible to the climate change.

It isn't all bad news :) As humanity we just just want to move to a better system than what we have today. That is how the progress works. On that note...

1. Most UK publications almost always have an agenda to push, don't take them seriously including the mighty BBC. Modern Li batteries don't have much of Cobalt, and they are order of magnitude safer/better/efficient than mercury based batteries.

2. Tesla have invented a way to extract Lithium from sea water in a very efficient way, and without Cobolt [https://www.theverge.com/2020/9/22/21451670/tesla-cobalt-free-cathodes-mining-battery-nickel-ev-cost]

3. Research shows that power source centralized is much easier to control pollution. As an example, a central grid producing electricity everyone can use for their electric car (in case of solar, consumers can contribute back to the grid; it already happens in many parts of the world). Grid might be running on thermal/hydro/nuclear today but tomorrow they can migrate to the most efficient/non-polluting power source.

4. Battery technologies are developing extremely fast (follow Hacker News, aka. https://news.ycombinator.com for cutting edge discoveries and inventions on bettery technologies)

5. And... anything is better than burning hydrocarbons, especially Diesel, which burns at higher temperature and produces NOx which is extremely hazardous. NOx is nothing but Nitric and Nitrous oxide gases, and when inhaled, they mix with moisture in lungs and produce Nitric/Nitrous acids which are major lung cancer risks.

A hot future is for certain especially for the future generations and it reminds me of the message in Miyazaki's animated films which is turning out to be true.
A lot of trees growing along the roads that I have seen since my childhood have been chopped for the upcoming metros. Sometimes I wonder what gives us humans any right to encroach on forests inhabited by other creatures and to chop trees what we deem is right as if the planet belongs solely to us.
When the chopped trees are not compensated elsewhere and when huge skyscrapers, roads and metros are given permission, I don't see how the climate can get reversed.
People and politicians like burying their heads in the sand and think all is well. What goes around will surely come back and we will have to pay a very heavy price for that.
I am not against development but the environment also should be taken into consideration with minimum consequences as we are the ones who will get affected the most.

I do not know much about the other metros but the weather in Mumbai and Bangalore have changed drastically for the worse in contrary to their pleasant past.

Till humans sit in air conditioned rooms and building no one is going to care about atmospheric warming
Unless our food gets scarce and expensive (at least 10 times compared to current) no one is really gonna correlate it with climate pattern change
Until our houses and offices get flooded in the coastal areas - no one is going to think about global warming and changing sea levels

Unfortunately, if the above happens, we would've screwed up quite a lot to correct.

Yes.
So our choices are:
Act (personally, whatever helps mitigate our carbon footprint in whichever ways we choose)
Encourage family and friends to understand more and make informed personal choices.
Speak up, share on platforms that you are a part of.
Lobby with policy makers to do more, vote for those who promise to take bold and concrete steps that are backed by good science and hold them accountable.
Continue to educate ourselves on the issue and how if left unaddressed it destabilises societies, increases inequality, contributes to political turmoil, causes large scale migration and displacement and even devastating wars.
Often these events are not attributed to climate change, even if they are caused by droughts, crop failure, landslides floods from severe storms, rising sea levels, increased soil salinity, deforestation, extinction of species (eg: bees)

Or

Do nothing and wait for divine intervention or such.
 
It is possible and scientifically credible to link an individual actor to an individual tangible impact on climate!

This analysis looked at how much carbon each nation emitted and the impact that had on global warming. Researchers then connected that to studies that show how rising temperatures have impacted economies around the world.

Two million possible values for each country-to-country interaction were sampled and a supercomputer was used to crunch a total of 11 trillion values to quantify and address uncertainties around cause-and-effect. …,eg: Warmer temperatures can cause economic losses for a country in a lot of ways such as lowering agricultural yields or reducing labour productivity through heat stress….

 
Population is the root cause of all problems.
We may exceed China in that respect quite soon.
 
And yet we continue to procreate! According to you what is the ideal population density?
Whatever we may believe to be ideal population density or absolute numbers of our species, I believe nature will find a way to restore balance (through epidemics, famines, floods, mass displacement, migration, political divisions, civil conflict and wars)

We are by far the most dominant species on the planet, our lifestyles, consumption behaviour has brought us all and every other species to this point…

A reset is happening and we and future generations are not going to like it, ..,.just as we don’t like to change our behaviour now for the greater collective good.

Blame games are inevitable but only serve to distract.

True what you have said. I am no economist by any means, but the ideal population density should be much lesser than the resources available in the country. That's why Europe is better off than us infact some of the countries are underpopulated.
I remember in college for economics , the population factor was stressed every now and then. It's just later when you actually see around you realise the situation.
More consumption of fuels, natural resources, deforestation and more buildings and concrete around you.
