So far, the following members have evinced interest, me included:-
Thank you for your response guys. I wish some more members would join in so that we have a sizable gathering.
Update:
Can someone suggest some more names to take up the role of presenter?
Sometime back I had read one FM CMS Sajith's thread on his HT acoustics treatment. There should be a thread by him too, in DIY section, I guess. He should be knowledgeable enough to share his own experiences.
Update:Sir any updates?
I think you are referring to cmsajith.
With due regards to Sajith's knowledge on the subject, to be able to explain about accoustics, one has to be a professional with lots of hands on experience IMO. Else one may not be able to do justice.
BTW, I understand that he has gotten busy with his own affairs and is not very regular on the forum. The last post made by him was on 7th March 2014: http://www.hifivision.com/speakers/...inting-performance-kef-q300-2.html#post574764
He last visited the forum on 21st January 2016.
I personally feel that these things are best done in person.
I personally feel, audio can only be experienced it cannot be spoken about without live demo. If I talk about a thing & you cannot hear / feel / experience it - what is its use ? It would be hollow.
Let 5 or 6 members send in pictures or drawing of their room with current placement. Let the experts suggest solutions for improvement. Concerned members can then implement the suggestions and report.
This will make the seminar more relevant
Sorry for the long delay folks. FM Manoj has made some effort and was able to make a list of the topics that would be discussed. Here they are:
1. speaker placement
* general guidelines
* reflections
* soundstage
* sbir
2. Room Modes (advanced)
* Width, height and length
* Seating location
* speaker placement and effects on modes
* Room modes - ways to minimize effect
3. Room treatment (Not sure if this is needed)
* diffusion or absorption
* guidelines about absorption.
Feel free to come out with suggestions on additions/ modifications to the topics mentioned above.
You sure have a point there Bhagwan. Physical sessions would be the best. Having said that, considering how wide apart are the participants located, it is well neigh impossible to bring them all together at one location. I was just making an effort to make a beginning so that theory can be covered atleast.
Those participants in Mumbai who are interested to attend a physical seminar at Mumbai can indicate their interest in this thread so that it can be taken forward as well.
It would be great if a brief topic about 'Phase Response' is too covered.
Are you referring to Phase Response in speaker designing?
If so, I'm not sure if it would fit into the topic under discussion i.e. Room acoustics and placement which is purely for beginners.
