yes thats what i did ....TATASKY to Reciver HDMI connected and Coax cable from TATA sky reciver to Pioneer 1020 COAX port .....
at reciver end setting is HDMI 2 (where cable connected )
is there any passthrough or special setting in reciver

You need to check on your receiver if it CAN override HDMI Audio with coax/optical to support this config. Else you would have to assign coax to a non-HDMI input for it to work.

actually TATA sky HD box not support DOlby 5.1 sound from HDMI , they have some bugs in hardware ...peaple are using Coax cable for getting Digital sound .....let me try today by assigning COAX sepreatly for Audio ..and video from HDMI .

You won't get true surround sound by using LR RCA out. You can buy a coaxial to optical converter Digital Audio Coaxial SPDIF Coax to Toslink Optical Di | eBay

Govi - You cant expect Left and Right signal cables to carry the rest of 3.1 channel output through it. Its just not possible. Only digitally you could multiplex multichannel audio through one cable as it works in terms of numbers (data) and not audio.

You could buy the cable suggested by baijuxavior or go for an Airtel HD DVR which only has Optical input.

Also, TS+HD has both coax and optical.

Thank you baijuxavior and prankey! I understand now. I will go for the convertor or better the HD DVR. I will also look for a DVD HT system 5.1 (low budget) which can take coaxial input. Thank you all for enriching me. But for the forum, I would have landed up in buying something that wont fit my requirements.

As discussed earlier, airtel does not carry 5.1 audio through hdmi. In your case you can use a coaxial to optical converter.

No you can not get 5.1 sound via RCA(L&R). L& R stands for Left and Right.
You need to have coaxial or optical or hdmi inputs for 5.1 sound.

Goto Settings - User Settings - Audio

Here we need to set Dolby Digital Plus for the HDMI audio output. That's it, we will get the 5.1 channel sound on the supported channels. Thanks.

I did the settings as mentioned in my STB- enabled DD over HDMI. But no sound from HD channels on connected TV (Samsung 40H6400), Sond from SD channels is there though.

Is DD over HDMI supported ? or DD is on optical out from STB only ??

I get 5.1 from my airtel STB over HDMI as well. Good surround effects from HD channels.
