A while back I added another Akai TT to my collection - a midnight black AP-Q55 Quartz Lock Direct Drive

It sits well along my midnight black AP-D30 which is also a direct drive.

Both TTs are built very well and sound fantastic. I also like the vintage Akai design philosophy and find most vintage Akai gear very good looking.

Sharing some pictures of the TTs for viewing pleasure-

Good stuff Pathakajit, please post pics of the rest of your rig as well. Very refreshing to see these vintage beauties. Akai did make some great gear, back in the day.

Akai AP D30 is really a good turntable. It is also serving me well. Only the rubber tube of counter weight suspension got damaged, which was rectified using DIY path.

Yes, drooping of the rubber tube suspension for the counterweight is a known issue for these models... Easily fixed using diy methods. Both these TTs have the rubber tubes 'fixed'.
