All mobiles to have USB-c port!!

Not if its enforced by bureacrats
If this had been implemented a few years back, we would all be stuck on micro USB. Implementing it now would mean things remain stuck on USB C for a long time. A few years from now we'll have connections with better bandwidth but this regulation will force devices to stay on USB C.

I am not technology expert but is it possible to change the internals to increase the data transfer rate but keeping the port same, like as happened with usb 2 to 3 which are backwards compatible

USB C seems to have a hardware limitation of 40gbps (Thunderbolt spec), which would keep pace with usb 4. Would become a problem post that.

Ok ..but it would be a bigger problem for Apple because they have been avoiding it altogether in their phones...they adopted it for Macbook but not phones don't know why

I guess this would be an end of ports altogether. Future is wireless charging.

Seems correct this may hinder growth.

If implemented will be a big relief for consumers

Agree!

It's a nightmare having so many chargers, each ending with a different end point, with a different current rating.

This move will help cut down on the number of chargers people are forced to buy. Which in turn is a big thing IMO. Imagine the e-waste we all are generating. How many of us don't have dozens of chargers/converters lying around in our household? Imagine being able to reduce that to just 2-3-4 chargers per household. It means a lot for the planet, just the reduction of e-waste.

Future-proofing is a genuine concern, but we are forgetting something. They are only proposing it as a charging standard (excluding data-transfer needs), that too with exemption for wireless charging capable devices. That means two things.

(1) USB-C has more than enough current capability, to make it future-proof in the near future (at least for the next 10 years or so). With devices becoming more and more power-efficient, power requirements are only likely to go down.

(2) They do not propose to tie the manufacturers to USB-C for data-transmission. For that manufacturers will be free to include other ports. Combine that with wireless charging and we already have a solution. But then, in 2021, do people still use wires for transferring data? Everything is moving to wireless data transfers, which is every bit as fast if not more and offers a hassle free connection.

IMO, it's a very good move. All governments around the globe should bring such notifications.
