I have serious doubts over the genuine ness of the website. The website quotes 'India" as the seller's country with only three destinations possible-India, Canada and US. Shipping to US is free. The rates have been quoted in USD.

Or secondly, it might be the case that the seller is shipping from US.

Overall, a shady website.

It seems like the site that was called Home Theaters World earlier. The owner is from Delhi. I am not sure how the shipping to US is free.

As far as I can recollect his name was Ahitosh Ray. His shop then had a good collection of Marantz, Boston Acoustics and some offerings from Mordaunt Short too. It was located in West Sagarpur, New Delhi.

There are any number of purveyors of luxury goods in India that have connections in the USA. The connection gets goods directly from the distributor, or from a large retailer that has a clandestine "wholesale" side. They drop ship to anywhere in US/Canada because they never really want to take delivery. When their India based reseller has a fish on the line, he does take deliver in the US then hands the box over to what I call the "ant parade." These are people who travel back and forth between India and the US often, and carry large packages of electrical goods on the plane. They look like ants while standing in the cue at the airport with all these large boxes on their shoulders. These goods then enter India with little or no duty paid because it is rather easy to slip through in person by slipping a few bucks to customs. The Indian merchant can then offer free delivery in India because he has only about 40% of the sales price invested. A bona fide Indian retailer probably has 70% of the selling price invested because the distributor had to pay for international shipping and duty, as well as provide a service organization (which sometimes is a bottley-wallah with a screwdriver.)

The problem with any such arrangement is the goods are probably rated for 120 volts 60Hz and if a need for service comes up you have no local support, and would need to navigate to problems of returning goods to the US for service and explaining to customs how the goods got to India in the first place. If there is a tuner involved, The Ministry of Communications is quite strict on what is allowed, and products without proper certification can lead to trouble.
