Hi,

I have Asus Oplay Mini HD Media Player. I played Mp4 file with AAC audio but iam not getting audio as 5.1 only getting sound from 2 channels. My setting is Audio HDMI raw connected to my avr. The player is able to send the signals of Ac3 and 5.1 audio from Mkv. Only problem is for Mp4.

Anybody help me guys. I have updated the firmware to the latest 1.23 i think so.

Thanx

I had the same problem with aac codec while playing mp4 files in my bdp. I converted the file to mkv using mkvtoolnix v3.0 and it worked for me. May be you can try that.

hi
i m using oplay air hdp r3, even i m hving the same prob. AAC 5.1 means AAC+ , it might b possible that your AVR is not able to decode AAC+ audio..

Will there be any loss in audio quality?

Actually the mkv tool does not convert aac to another format so you won't lose quality - both picture and audio. The conversion is very fast. Just one minute on my laptop for a 3GB mp4 file. Just give it a try.

hi friend the software is showing it as mkvmerge in toolbar while the software downloaded is toolnix. will it be like that!!

yes. the title is mkvmerge. jsut drag and drop the mp4 file onto it. Remove unwanted audio tracks and start muxing. Post your findings.

Finished Casino royale movie now. no change seen in my pc buddy. Will try it in the surround system and post the impression

No change in the media player. Same problem I am not getting surround sound.

You can try to convert the aac mp4 to ac3 mkv using MP42MKVac3 | Download MP42MKVac3 software for free at SourceForge.net. Before I found mkvtoolnix v 3.0, I had used this tool to convert the acc track to ac3 to get 5.1. However this tool has some bugs which delete all files in the folder sometimes. So before you start, copy your files to another location. Keep only the movie you want to convert in the folder.

Hi,

After you convert your mp4 file to mkv file format (MKV tool nix/MKV merge), download pop corn audio converter (freely available). When you will run it for the first time it will automatically download other necessary components. Now you can place the mkv file and change the 5.1 AAC to 5.1 AC-3. It will take 5-10 minutes depending your file size and computer speed. I guess this is the easiest workaround for converting 5.1 AAC sound to AC-3. There are only few media player which supports native 5.1 AAC support.

And from next time just make sure that you download the video file with AC-3/DTS audio only. Atleast that what I do.

any one plz tell me what does this mkvtoolnix realy do
if it converts some format to mkv but how that fast!
what about audio? will it even converts audio?

mkvtoolnix/mkvmerge will only convert mp4 files to mkv files with audio untouched. It will take 5 min at max. Kindly remember that mkv is a container rather than a file format. So, it can have one video file and many audio files. Here you can also delete any unwanted track. Just untick the unwanted track and you are ready to go.

The actual audio conversion i.e, AAC to AC-3 is done by popcorn audio converter. This process can take 10-12 mins. It may happen that you will find that nothing is happening but be a little patient, it will yeild desirable result.
