After two months of waiting period got my tv delivered at home at 2 pm today.. i had just connected c-6900 bluray player** via hdmi(1.4)**, played megamind 3d** for 3 minutes..i had not wall mounted TV.i will be doing it on tuesday/ Wednesday. after switching on i just paired two 3d glasses**..((since today i was busy i didnot have time to watch even a minute, ))installation guy had the 3d glass for 1 minute, but i didnot have time to even a glance..any way the picture was amazing, a friend who saw megamind( he was watching it using 2nd 3d glass**) was searching for his purse... guess for what ! he wanted to book it immediately.. as stocks are limited available. i told him to wait for 10 days, then he could get one at ease, i also told him to come after one week to check my tv... i neeeed time to set picture and tune cable, wall mount etc...
comparing to lg, the clarity (2d- becoz i have not seen 3d yet) was very good, seemed sharper, but still i dont know what setting iam using.
i will be going home at 10 p.m, will switch 3d and will post full review with pictures....
seems a price change..
i got it billed for 86000(66,000 for tv, 20,000 for 3d kit**)

**- 3d kit : it includes..two 3-D glass, megamind 3-d bluray disc, c-6900 player with wifi dongle((supposed to get d-5500, but got changed-- its a big story)), 1.4a hdmi cable,5 bluray discs-2012,angels & demons,spiderman part1, part 3, ghost rider...

My dealer has still not delivered my 3D pack. says stocks not available. what does your dealer say ?

i got 3d pack, said it is available, please make sure ur glasses are new. not kept for demo,,,
d5500 bluray player stocks are very low in number. may be because of it, try to ask him for c6900..

sorry for the delay. i am uploading some shots of tv and player. taken today at 6 p.m,
as far pic quality concerned, its awesome, but i had set the tv settings too low, will be keeping for first 100 hours/ 15 days, so that tv gets set better..

https://picasaweb.google.com/drkavint/312011

there are 2 varieties of photos..
one i took with my low profile picture setting... other one with default dynamic mode..
used flash on and also off function. they are taken using canon 12 megapixel one.
the star plus hd, movies now, starmovies hd are via hdmi input of reliance hd-dvr
pc pictures are via hdmi input, shown some pictures of cable( star cricket), the same is shown in picture in picture...
u can see that when contrast, brightness is kept low, heavy reflections of my window is seen, but at defult(high) setting it is very minimal..
my ratings>>>> total out of 10--- mfirst for samsung ps 51..... compared with lg 50pq30r previously owned..
1. 2d picture quality---8( samsung)----8(lg)
2. reflection/ anti glare quality---1----7
3.3d picture depth-----9( too amazing)---0(my lg didnot have 3d)
4. settings menu user friendliness---5-----9
5. remote usage, quickness, style,---5----9
6.audio quality ----7----8
7.picture smoothness....8......8
8. contrast and sharpness( I MEAN CRISPY IMAGE)---9----6
9. quality, style, panel,-----10( touch buttons)-----8(lg)
10 features----9( 3d,pip, audio equalizer, optical out, two usb, wifi ready), 5(but user friendly menu)
my wish lists...
1. wish reflections were minimal
2. built in wifi, web browser( present in 7 series led, if 7 series plasma there i would have opt it,, we are unlucky indians)
3. when dynamic contrast, eco mode are adjusted, i see less effects,lg changes are awesome..
4. via usb still many formats dont play , 1080 frame sequence movie says resolution not supported..

what i loved in samsung..
1. too good crispy, high contrast, bright picture,,, very much color some..
2. very minimal image retention, compared to lg
3. hdmi inputs are recognized fast, have not tried all share and cec
i didnot like style of remote and pip picture is too too small,i also only 3 picture modes available, yet features are many..
if u are beginner and have less knowledge to adjust pictures beware of advance settings...
normal defaults are awesome..
difference between led and plasma in pc usage has been minimized, i used to love led screen for pdf reading, with this plasma i didnot find difference in reading pdf files, advantage of led over plasma is eaten up..
except for reflections this plasma is too too great, since i didnot like remote control, i have changed to reliance hd-dvr remote, using remote learning function i have tuned set top box remote for tv..
settop box, tv, asus media player remote has been unified by me into reliance dvr remote..

https://picasaweb.google.com/drkavint/312011?authuser=0&feat=directlink

i hope url is working...
pictures are taken with auto setting... the real pictures when viewed on tv is 30% better, so dont break ur heart thinking as low,, i have shown the negative ones better than real beautiful,, so that to high lighten the reflection part...
picture quality is too too awesome.. hats off to 3d effect.. u will never remove ur eyes off, when watched with default settings..
i have kept settings too too low... will be running it on for 15 days...then will enjoy real beast...

Trust you understand.

u ve been very lucky to have gotten the c-6900 blueray player. As I c on samsung's website the MRP of c-6900 is 30k whereas c-5500 is for 11.9k only. Congrats again !!! :eek:hyeah:

Hello everydoby.... especially Mr.Kavint.
This is my very first post in the forum. I've been watching the samsung PS51D550 threads from past 2 months. Esterday i find this new thread from Mr Kavint n i really impressed and pleased with this post.:clapping:

I really say thanks for sharing the new baby and detailed snaps too. I strongly recommended this tv to my friend and he is going to get this one on tommmorrow or day after in Bangalore. I hope i guided him right track however he has dailemma to go for Sammy or Panny ST30.

Any ways just i wat to know about
1) Which is the best DTH connection for this TV for both SD and HD. u r using RDTV HD DVR, does reliance new digital tv (all HD like channels) will make any difference in watching SD channels
2) Does tv supports any 1080 formats / 3D formats through USB
3) what are the other sources to watch real 3D except 3D BD player
4) How is the 2D-3D converted PQ
5) What is the panel life (it is 100000 burnung hrs in panny ST 30)
6) Which HDMI cable to buy for HD DTH

Sorrry for the lengthy post (since this is my very first one)

i got 3d pack, said it is available, please make sure ur glasses are new. not kept for demo,,,
d5500 bluray player stocks are very low in number. may be because of it, try to ask him for c6900..

Congratulations DrKavint:clapping: Btw, What else is included in 3D kit?

cheers!!

1. iam using reliance hd-dvr past one and half years, no complaints.. beautiful clarity, but i a, miss recording via sms/ internet option (airtel hd gives)
b,each south indian language pack costs rs. 30 extra( sun gives all south sun language channels)
c, movies now, star movies hd doesnt come alacart, need to pay for star plus hd( I DONT WATCH IT), airtel pack cost 65, here 85
d, jayamax tamil music channel not available( airtel hd gives)
e, no 3d channel( videocon d2h gives)
*************but this has THE BEST sd and hd clarity, so all drawbacks are eaten up************, only airtel hd comes 80% to reliance clarity and worth to compare, ofcourse its ur choice....
2. 1080p formats are supported, m2s format ( origional bluray disc) plays but during play other functions ( rewind/ forward/ remote volume) gets slow.
3. 3d sbs 1080p/ 720pformats supported, but frame sequence 1080p says resolution not supported
4, though 3d is amazing i bet we will not watch more than 15 minutes/ day, so taking for 3d is just for name sake, anyway 2d pictures looked good on slide show 3d, normal sports(cricket)< SERIALS ARE NOT WORTH<looks better for eyes in 2d,,, depth effect is seen , not coming out of box
5, in world only pure 1080p source is bluray, few digital cameras offer 1080p recording..
videoplayers, pc, media players, dth, all have either 1080i / upconverted to 1080p resolutions..
of course many bluray rips are made in 1080p and shared via torrents..can download them
panel life god knows, but above 60,000 hours for sure, means 10 years.. who knows what changes in 10 years...
buy a good hdmi cable, while using 165 rs cable i found mild black flickering while using asus hd media player, better buy from sony( hdmi 1.3a only given)or buy from onkyo dealer( they give 1.4a- to support audio return function==i was quoted 1400 rs for one cable)
never hesitate to ask doubts.. no one is born with knowledge, all credits about my av knowledge goes to hifivision...

3d kit includes..
1. 2 3d battery operated glass, 2 free batteries.
2. bluray player( d5500) with remote and 2 batteries, i was lucky to get c6900
3.hdmi 1.4a cable
4. megamind 3-d bluray disc
5. 2012, spiderman part 3, part 1, ghost rider,angels and demons bluray(all 2d)discs
i opened 2012 only.. happy to get tamil/ hindi 5.1 audio.. not checked other movies..
what else u need to buy is
1. lan cable/ wifi dongle to connect tv/ bluray and access tv update ( presently tv is packed with new version, so not necessary to update)/ bluray "s bd/ google maps/ you tube features etc...
2. good hdmi 1.4 cable if u want to connect bluray to 3d ready receiver( iam using onkyo 508) then receiver to tv

Oh.. lots of information. Thanks a lot :) i may be back with many other doubts. But i got many AV experts over here..... Cheers

very sad news.. i was copying some files from my laptop 2 my external hard disk (2tb), suddenly hard disk fell and stopped working.. it contained 26 bluray sbs movies, x files, csi tv series complete 80 gb each, all gone. had marmadesam 81 episodes full,,,, everything gone.. today is the saddest day in my life......

Indeed very sad to hear about the loss of yr hard disk, but ,congrats on getting yr new tv and also the effort that you have taken to post the reviews along with pictures.

you can try running recovery software or going to professional data retrievers.

3-d bluray disc, c-6900 player with wifi dongle((supposed to get d-5500, but got changed-- its a big story)), ...

Wow. What is the story for the interchange of D5500 and C6900 ?? Would like to know how that can be made possible? I'm still waiting for my kit !!!

Looking to hear from you.
