Audiophile article - member quoted in current issue of Forbes

Cos extroverts love to live life in the limelight, on display, not hiding anything - LP spinning in full view, out there, larger than life physical dimension, cover art...

Introverts hide inside, more content being withdrawn - CD being drawn into a cozy compartment, hidden from the world, spinning away all by itself only seen by the very few who know just which buttons to press to get it to come out into the open.

NICE!Good description.Possibly true?

Thanks Rallynut.

Suri, I would think the extrovert would go for digital. He would rather spend time socialising than sit and clean records.

Hi Prem -

all "serious" audiophiles are "lonely" people-

they detest the "wasted" time listening to music on their preferred system in the company of "friends-family-others"

for these "curious" people - (and they could be extroverts or introverts) - the best, and most relaxed time is when they spend their time in isolation with (their rituals) and their systems.

all else is zilch!:)

Every passionate hobby has it's own rituals.Men adopt these hobbies to escape into a private world, where there are no wives, children, bosses, creditors, rivals.A world where they can tinker around with their object of affection.Sub-consciously,it is not the object which is important, but the release from their obligations and enforced duties, release from the spider web of relationships to which they are attached.Every man with a 'hobby' is a loner, and for those who have no hobby, well these guys read the newspaper every morning and watch TV every evening....

Coincidence?I am not making this up....
While writing the above post, the thought did flit through my mind of your 'passion' for your HT room and equipment.
Also the 'passion' of Manav,Suri,Stevieboy,Rajiv,Moktan,Dr.Bass,Prem and others (I hope you guys don't mind being 'inspirations' for my post. And what I said may not be accurate in your case!Sincere apologies:))
Another inspiration was a couisin who loves to tinker with his vintage bicycles in his leisure time.
And of course all the 'passionate' hifivisionists:)

I am not including the myriads who are 'passionate' about their cell phone and constantly keep fiddling with it.That's not a passion. That is insanity!

*As for the inspiration for the no-hobby newspaper and television addicts....there are too many of them to be 'credited' here!
