Another brand shuts down:

They are blaming US tarrifs, now I am wondering how many other Chinese/HK brands may be in trouble being that the US is their largest market.
Cheers,
Sid

Auralic is Korean so didnt have the China specific issues. Plus a lot of electronics dont draw tariffs currently (I'm not sure if audio streamers qualify there). Generally, Korea tariffs are around some European and South East Asian countries. China and India are higher.

With streamers, the company shutting down hurts customers a lot more. No firmware or app updates means compatibility will erode at an accelerated pace.

PS: AFAIK Aurender and HiFiRose are S.Korean, Lumin is based in HK
Also any purchase of Chinese goods electronic or otherwise in the US, is subject to tarriff. I bought a meanwell PSU from mouser in the US and had a tariff charge added, also products from Chinese mfrs. like Holo audio etc., all have their prices increased by 20-30% reflecting tariffs.

They’ve exempted things like cellphones and laptops. Guess those exemptions are quite narrow if DACs get covered

My bad on the Auralic - Korea confusion . Had carried that impression for years!
