can you all please all me help out which one to go for I am geting

Almost set to get my AVR

Zeroing Denon 1611 - 28k

I couldnt get 1911 to check for anywhere any idea where I can try that out , and also the price range to buy for ?

Vicky ,

No HT or speakers yet :(

Try at ProFX, Lakozy, Viola, etc. The MRP is 32K. So

If you are able to stretch the budget, you should get the 1911. And you will cry once only. :). The 1911 should be available around 46K.

Are you sure of the 1911 price? I heard its some where between 35 and 38K.

I am not vert sure for 1911 price wat I got a quote for this over phone was 45k , do not have any idea how the discount that can be taken ...

But yes 1611 is coming in range of 28k .

Any idea about the differences they gonna caryy ?

Also thinking of Jamo 606 will that be good with denon .

Secondly Anish I saw in you signature , you got wharf . IN general terms is Wharf better then Jamo . As I am about to get a demo for Wharf Vardus .

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Why I went for Wharf is because of it's value for money at good quality. I have seen other speaker companies either put high price tag which is no justifiable and still some others put less and the quality is a compromise. Wharfs are in fact good speakers. I am satisfied with it. What I have heard about Jamo was not that great at least for their affordable range. May be better on their higher end speakers. But I have never had a chance to hear one. So can't really compare. If you are asking about the Vardus series 5.1 setup then I would suggest be careful as it's not that great in my experience.

I would advice against the 1311 as it does not come with Audyssey. For most people, the Audyssey auto setup does a very good job of setting up the system for 5.1 sound.

I would also suggest reading through batpig's denon to english dictionary here before you go and buy any denon avr. Understand the features available on the different models and see which features might be important for you. And do go thru the audyssey threads linked to on avsforum from the above links.

Thanks a lot for your valuable inputs.

I was thinking in between 1611 and 1911 , any comments or thoughts on that ?

I got the 1911 from Crutchfiled US for 380$, no shipping, no tax, no customs :D

A friend got it for me :D

I am indebted for life...... lol

In India the 1911 has a price tag of 45K but is sold around 35-38K (I guess) never checked....

Here are a few differences between the 2 models:

1. The 1911 has a video upscaler that would upscale component video, composite video and hdmi to a hdmi output. This can help you to connect a single hdmi cable to your display and connect all of your source materials to the avr and then use the avr for switching between various video sources. If all of your sources have hdmi out, then this feature is redundant. Check out more on the upscaler on the 1611 & 1911 and see if your current setup merits one.

2. The 1911 is a 7.1 avr, while the 1611 is a 5.1 avr. The 7.1 setup gives you additional flexiblity in terms of bi-amping the front speakers in a 5.1 setup or using a second set of speakers as zone 2.

3. The 1911 has a higher power amp. This will depend on the kind of speakers you are planning to use now/later.

4. The 1911 can control an iPod over the front USB cable

Now one thing to consider is that both the Denon 1911 & 1611 have a very basic text menu/ui. This does not get overlaid on a hdmi input and looks quite average.

The 2311 has a full graphical gui that gets overlaid over HDMI. Check out the UI differences between these 3 models and see if you can live with the basic text ui on the 1911/1611. I got the 1910 last year and after 1 year i now feel that I should have spent extra and got the 2311. The lack of a volume control overlay with hdmi sources is sometimes an issue for me.

Even 1611 upscales SD video on composite input to HDMI, though am not sure whether it upscales to full HD or not. But the PQ sucked when I upscaled tata sky SD video through HDMI. Hopefully the upscaler on 1911 is better.

On my 1910, the TS SD upscaled to 1080i looks the same as what I get from the HDMI output of my TS+HD DVR. Now the quality of the TS SD channels looks quite bad using either method, so maybe the issue is related to the TS signals and not the upscaler chip.

Hi All, I know this is a old thread, but 1611 is 7.1 and I have confirmed this with Profx. If you click on the brochure link on profx website you can see in the PDF that it is 7.1.
Currently I am confused on whether to go for 1611 (as its 7.1) or 1911 or wait for 1912 (if it has to be denon). Newer 1612 is only 5.1.

AFAIK, the extra two channels in 1611 are pre-outs and you need an amplifier to power those two speakers.

FYI - this is something i discovered / confirmed yesterday after a talk with denon tech in usa.

the only real drawback is the radio tuner... on the fm you can only scan channels 91.9 91.1 91.3 91.5 91.7 and so on.... so if you want to listen to fm 91.8 well you cant...same thing for the AM channels 780,790,800 but if you want to listen to 783 you cannot... this by design...apparently the some genius engineer was working overtime. i am not sure if this problem is with all models of denon or only the 1910 model plus the model i have is the usa one not sure if the same problem exist around the world or not .

sorry if I am badly rocking the boat here....

but if you want good musical sound quality (2 channel and surround) you should not buy denon.

For the money you are spending pls look at Cambridge Audio 551 AVR. Or a NAD 748 or 757. You will be much more pleased with the audio performance of these units.
