I have the Energy Take Classic 5.1 speaker system. I want a good AVR to pair with it.

I am thinking of Pioneer VSX-520-K, what are your views on this receiver?

Is there any other receiver you guys would like to suggest in the same price range as that of VSX-520-K?

Guys the price of VSX-520-k is around 25k in Bangalore. I really can't afford to spend so much right now. I need a decent receiver within 18K. How about Yamaha RX V365? Its available for around 17k.

Also, I read in this forum that there are receivers available from the grey market here in Bangalore (near the sapna book house). What are the downsides in buying from the grey market? Will they be brand new or refurbished?

For $199 I think its a killer with some good features ... See if you can get that bluetooth unit also as shown in images.. Nice to play some music wirelessly...........

After enquiring all around Bangalore, ended up buying the next model RX V465 for 22K in Music Ranch! Since the distances to the speakers from the receiver are not very large, will 16 gauge cables suffice?

Edit : Didn't go in for VSX-520-K since I will have to wait for weeks(if I am lucky) before I can get it shipped to my house, again there will be warranty issues, voltage issues didn't really want all that headache :)

The model sounds like yamaha !!!! 16 awg cable is good enough if you dont have long distance ... Enjoy your new setup.

Yamayeah!!:P There was not much of a price difference between rxv 365 and rxv 465, so went in for 465.

?

Yamaha 465 was available for 18k in grey(alpha Mumbai).

Get yamaha 565 which is 7.1 setup and it is available for 24000 in chennai. I dono the price there and it would be a future proof.........:)

Nothing is future proof... They are already working on a 10.1 or something!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Since the Energy Take speakers were rotting at home, I desperately needed a decent receiver at a decent price as soon as possible. I enquired at many showrooms around Bangalore and 22k was the lowest price I came across for 465, so went ahead and purchased it. Since the purchase has been done, there is no point regretting over it now:P.
And the setup rocks btw :)

No I was worried abour wrong information given about alfa pricing..least I feel that ...so I mentioned.

Yes so my statement was
" Mumbai Yamaha RX-V 465 In alpha @ Rs 18K ,Bill n Warentee .."
so basically what I heard from sales guy it was NOT grey.
BTW chennai price was 17 K!

Haha definitely I will post some tomorrow. Since I will be shifting my house in the near future, the connections are not very neat :indifferent14:

Edit : And also its nothing compared to what I have seen in this forum :(

We would still want to see the setup! We are not that easy to pacify ;)

Also, how much did you buy the Energy Take classic? I wanna pair them with a Denon 1911. Hope they are not an overkill for these Classics.

How's its effect with your Yamaha?
How's the sound? Crisp and Clear?
How's the Base? Crisp or boomy. muddy?

I am in the market on the lookout for a 5.1 (preferred) system and it appears Classics are VFM.
