Best ever deal for loudspeaker kits.

The same goes for credit card 1 PO = 1 bill = 1 shipment
And because this shipment is not a big one so the number of items in the PO should match exactly to what is received in the landed shipment

but what is 1 Shipment?

Is it possible that one cargo box can have multiple POs / Bills?

Suppose you send Danny a PO of 100 usd then danny should send you back 2 copies of a same bill having an amount of 100 usd . one original bill should be sent by post to captain or the person who has placed the order and sent the payment . The second copy of the very same bill is sent along with the shipment in the form of accompanying details/documents and this bill should have the same items purchased listed on it in the correct number. The shipped package should have the exact number of items aswell. Once the shipment arrives it goes for evaluation to the customs and once the shipment gets cleared the person lets say captain has to go and file the original documents as required which also includes the original bill received by post

i dont know how many of you are aware of the fact that getting goods by sea is extremely cheap ( i mean the shipping charges ) . The shipping cost of upto 1000 kgs of material occupying space of upto 1 cubic meter from china to india is just 50 USD

Customs duty seems to be an issue as none of us are clear what would be the duty if it is shipped as one consignment or whether the shipment can be in individual names, but shipped as one consignment. I happened to see this thread on Aramex and people have mixed experience using their service. Refer this below thread. I feel we need to sort out this, otherwise the shipment may get stuck in customs.

Some questions on the logistics which we can discuss and arrive at a conclusion.

[1] Will we be shipping to a common place/city? Or will we be shipping to each of the cities say, Bangalore, Chennai etc. ?

[2] Will Danny add all the ordered stuff in the same pallet, or will it be in different pallets city wise?

[3] If we ship to a common city, who will take care of sorting the stuff city wise and re-shipping to respective cities? Will it be handled by the shipping company or will we have to handle it form our end?

[4] Will this shipping from port of entry to respective cities be a separate cost or will this also be included in shipping charges for sea shipping?

[5] Are we looking at getting the cabinet built in respective cities or at a common place? If at common place can we reliably ship built speakers and sub-woofers safely?

Hi Captain
I have a query on Sonicap upgrade. Will the original crossover board gets replaced with the Sonicap before shipping or we need to do it ourselves once we get the Kit?

You get the new parts and put them on the board yourself. It is actually pretty easy. You unsolder the caps on the board and remove them. Then replace them with the new caps and solder the leads through the same holes. If you need to you can clean out the through hole with a small drill bit.

If that all sounds to tough then for $10 each (each crossover) I'll do it for you. I don't want to and $10 each really isn't enough for my time, but you guys are making a good sized order and I want to be good to you guys.

No worries on non-availability of No-Rez. Host of other options. Glasswool is one but it will minimise resonance by damping but AFAIK, will not do much for standing waves. That depend more on the cabinet design by avoiding parallel walls/baffles etc etc. IMO, heat-resistant convoluted foam will do an equally good job. What is that, eh?
Regards

Actually glass wool does the opposite. It does absorb standing waves in the box, but doesn't do anything to control the resonances of the box.

Resonance control is the primary design function of the No Rez. Mass loading the walls with floor tiles or things like that also help in this same way.

You guys can send payments pretty much any way you want. I take all major credit cards and even Paypal. If you want to send moneys to the Captain and have him wire funds to me that is okay too. I can even send just a single invoice to him for the total coming over.

The products (as of right now) will all fit on one pallet. I will box each individual persons order and write their name on their box. If you want, I could even print out a all of each persons shipping info on a label and put that on each box too. The pallet weight is right at 650 pounds right now. Shipping from me to the dock will likely be more than the ocean shipping cost. That is likely to be pretty reasonable. I know I am always real happy with the ocean freight cost of loads of drivers that I order from Peerless.

I have sent the pallet size and weight to Sunit at Peerless. He is going to check on the best shipping cost and put me in direct contact with the forwarder (or whoever is involved) so that I can deal directly with them on the logistics. I am waiting now to hear back from him.

Hello all, :)

My name is Ruben and I'm the person who built the Piano Black N3S that was posted a couple pages back. I do a lot of work for Danny's customers.

I don't know when shipping is scheduled to happen, but if there is time, I can supply flat packs for you guys. I have 2 Encore flat packs left over from a fund raiser we held over on Audio Circle, but I'm 99% sure they've been spoken for. Normal pricing on the X-LS Encore flat packs is $100.00 pr. but I can knock 15% off each pair if at least 5 orders are placed. So, that's $100.00 for each pair up to 4 orders and $85.00 per pair for every order if at least 5 orders are placed. Make sense?

Best,

Ruben

That's great news Danny. Looking forward for the info. What is the distance between your place to the Port and what would be the mode of transport?

Welcome to the forum Ruben, I'm glad you are here. The finish of your speaker boxes are fantastic. It would be great if you could provide links to your build pics for us to understand your manufacturing prowess.

I am open to any of the below options. Do we have any clear info on customs, how to handle it? May be once we know that we can firm up on the payment mode. Individually addressed package vs a single address for all items together. I feel this can have a big impact on how customs would deal with it.

May be the third option would be easier for us.

OK guys, the deadline is nearing. Let us work out the nitty-gritties.

Option 1: Open an account in my Bank into which, all the willing participants would deposit the money and Danny would be paid from this account after which, Danny makes the shipment.

Option 2: Each of the members makes their own arrangement to pay Danny and after everyone pays, Danny would make the shipment.

Option 3: Either of the above but the payment would be made to Danny's associate, Peerless.

@Danny, kindly apprise us of the shipping options.

I am open to any option as my order comes to me without loosing anything.

Also the knockdown version of boxes in post #351 look great. Please make a thought over that too.

Captain,

I have always regarded the enclosure as a major part of any speaker. I have not been following this thread very closely from start to present and am not sure if someone has worked out cost and other details of getting the cabinets made in India. If the USA offer (post #351) is reasonable, let us consider it.

I was shying away from this project because of the difficulties involved in designing and making suitable enclosures. Many other potential builders may have also done so. We may be able to attract more people if the option of a well designed cabinet with pre cut parts is available to those who want it. Please give it a serious thought.

Regards.

^^
i had same concerns, and was postponing my speaker project(was thinking about getting a zaph kit with scanspeak drivers, with the front baffle) because of this issue and also due to the shipping/ customs issue. now captain organised this GB and srikanth (soundsgreat) agreed to build these for me

so from a simple bookshelf now i am going for these monster build:yahoo:
GR-research OB-7 build

so all three problems gone for me:), now just need to break those piggybanks:D

Hello Ruben,

Welcome and thanks for you post. Do you have flat-packs for other kits X-CS, A/V 1RS and sub?

Great project!!! All the very best for your build!!!

How much is it going to cost the piggy banks???

Best wishes.

Thanks ,around 1k$ after the Danny's discount for the kits.plus freight and customs duty
i dont have an estimate for cabinets yet

edit: here is the cost details as i understand, ob7- kit is 895$ and my center channel n3 sealed version is 185$, so total 1080$, Danny said 15% off, so it becomes 918$. need to add the norez cost to this.

I might squeeze in a servo sub, after the thing about customs duty is clear

since ocean shipping is cheap, I think it will be a great idea to get cabinet flatpacks.
Ruben - everyone wants to know what all cabs you can give?
I am interested in an N3.
