Best ever deal for loudspeaker kits.

Now the million$ question. Who will do the bifurcation. For mods, it might be a huge task.

Pinged super mod. Eagerly awaiting reply.

Looks like supermod saw this post. He asked me to link the posts.:(

Since morning I was browsing through the thread and covered about 600 posts. I've listed them here.

I'm actually running against time to submit my project completion report of my alarm project and can't spend anymore time.

I request guys to take over from the last thread linked by me.

Huh, I finally prepared a list of hyperlinks of posts that contain some useful information for guys to follow. Here are they. There are 89 posts.

Pinged the supermod to create a separate thread so that guys can refer easily.

Cheers

Rajesh

Captn... You have done a great job, I appreciate.. Is it necesaary to do this ? Since everybody who have purchased the components were part of the Run of the mine thread and know from starting to end...

There is no thrill in reading the technical item alone in an forum, the questions raised and debated / also the doubts raised in a silly manner but makes a great value at some point of time and keep an thread live.... I feel this is thread is very live with all ingredients... My wish is not to break this and leave as it is.

I feel an new comer can very well understand if he read this thread if he want to venture into it by reading the great efforts in all areas of technical and physical.

Sorry if I am wrong..

Thanks for the input Srini; Here are the clarifications. :)

Firstly, I had requested the mods to create a separate thread by copying the posts to maintain continuity of the original thread.

Secondly, quite a few members have expressed difficulty in going through the entire thread and I understand the pain, having gone through the Class D amp threads on the other forums.

Thirdly, if you go through the posts selected, even smallest of the doubts and technical clarifications have been included and I'm surprised that there were only 89 posts that really added value to the thread. I'd be happy to be proven wrong here.

I was directed to Asst. Commissioner 5B. There was a huge crowd there and I was taken aback but thankfully, that was to meet the official of the adjacent cabin. It took him 3 minutes to browse through the documents. I'm giving you permission only this time he said and bingo, permission was granted.

Danny, who deals only with big shippers as he imports container loads of stuff, was finding it difficult to organise shipping to India within the budgeted cost.

He had asked me to organise a shipper. I've scouted around and organised a few of them. All but one of them are still processing the proposal; one has given a quote which is apparently by far the best Danny received. It may take others a couple of days more I guess.

Will post the happenings here.

When he endorsed "May be permitted" on my letter, I had asked him who will allot the IEC.

"That is not required" he quipped and suggested that I entrust the work to a shipping agent, probably having understood that I'm a layman.

I know a retired customs official who happens to be an ex-army man as well. He had given me some leads but all of them are basically customs clearing agents. Most of them declined to take up the work because it is out of the routine and hence did not want to take up the work.

However, a couple of them have got strategic partners at US and can organise the shipment.

One of them is a very senior and well established person. According to him, each official has his own way of looking at an issue. Today, one officer would've given permission but tomorrow when the consignment lands, if he is not available or transferred etc. the new incumbent would be likely to take a divergent view and that's when we would get into trouble he says. When I asked what the trouble would be, he said arbitrary over-valuation, penalties for importing without valid IEC, and the resultant demurrages payable to customs warehouse as your product would be lying there till all the formalities are completed.

He had suggested that we apply for a IEC and the cost of which would work out to Rs. 7.5k. He says "This is your insurance to nasty shock when your consignment lands in India"

So guys, we need to take a call on this now. Shoot your opinions.

im sure there must be some hifivsion members in your city with import licenses
if not just procure it

if it was landing in mumbai i would have done something about it
Hell my clients here just pay fixed sums on containers and be done

have you sorted out the shipper / ?
reliable and cheap ?

AFAIK, there are no HFV members with IECs. One of the participants, Odyssey has one but as per his calculations, he also needs to levy VAT on the whole thing which would add 12% more to the cost.

Even now, it is not too late. Can you organise it without all the hassles? There will be nothing like it. We can ask Danny to ship to Mumbai instead.

I have already organised one quote which Danny said is the cheapest he has got till date. A couple of more are under processing.

Captn,

It is easy to apply for IEC and it is an 1 day job and the procedure is simple, i believe as you have done to this extent, spend another one day purchase the application standing in Q in the morning(very less Q) and fill it up and submit and will be getting it in a week's time.

Or If you know any burma bazaar guys they will be having this.

Regards

Applying for IEC code is not my worry; the cost addition on account of that is what I'm worried of.

How much %age of addition? Its okay if <10K. Divide among participants. I thinks comes very less.

As per him, the cost would come to 7.5k.

@Cha_indian, I will take care of the cabinets at Chennai; don't worry. If you have any specific queries that have not been addressed already in the thread, do post it here.

I agree with Om, if the cost is <10K, then we should apply for IEC. Since the cost is 7.5K, I am ok if this amount is shared among all participants.

Thanks

7.5k is inclusive of consultancy charges... If you go and apply directly ??:p

It is only Rs 250 payable by DD,but it could take some time.I have applied it once and they returned it to me for negligible reasons. It would be easy if you have DGFT office in your city or to go with consultant.

Sachin

Captain - I am also ok with sharing addional cost of 7.5k. If we are 20 of us or so the per head amt will be approx 350 whch is nt a big amt to save ourselves from any probs at later stage when suff lands here.
