Hello friends,I am a newbie here, i am planing to convert one of my room into a HT.My room is about 185-200 sq ft and i am looking for 5.1 setup and what are the best speakers available out there so i can audition and what will be the best AV suitable for the speakers .My budget for the speakers are 5-5.5 lakhs.
Thank You

You have a nice budget. In that budget some of the best HT speakers will be these.

  1. Paradigm studio series
  2. Dali Mentor series
  3. M&K Sound S-150 series
Read reviews, audition if possible and then decide.

Do you mean AVR is also to be bought? And do you have a projector?
For such a high budget I would allocate some portion for acoustics also (10 to 15%)
As for options, I am sure experts here will suggest you many.

Try the KEF R series speakers or the Monitor Audio GX series speakers. For subwoofer look into brands like Seaton Submersive(has to be directly imported from US) or the SVS (can be bought from Audire Coimbatore) or HSU or the Rhythmic sub.
For AV separates, you can buy Emotive xpa-5 directly from US and Marantz SR6007 as prepro.

Yes i am planning a Projector and screen and a good AVR mostly Marantz SR7007..My overall budget for the whole HT is 18-20 lakhs.

My first choice was the KEF R series,i am planning to go for a audition first and then will decide..importing anything fro Us wont be possible and i am planning to go for Marantz SR7007 as i have a overall budget of 18-20 lakhs.

Check out Jamo D600 and Klipsch THX ultra 2 for speaker setup and SVS/HSU for subwoofer.
I would also suggest you to look at pre-pro rather than an AVR.

I am struggling to downgrade my current setup.

well you have a very good budget.
go for separate
not an avr.
separate processor and separate power amp.avr is just not a match to them
emotiva is a vfm power amp brand....
and yes go for finest bookshelves to cater midrange...your room does not need fs...
get expensive svs sub to cater bass separately...
as your need is movies mainly...go for finest bs you can afford rather than fs...
look dali,kef...

5.1 system will work out great for your room size-- you said around 200 sq ft--

What are the dimensions of your room-- you can fit a 120 to 150 inch screen with an excellent 5.1 system

one more query, Should i buy the speakers depending on what Avr/Pre amp i am buying or vice versa.(sorry for this question but i have zero knowledge about AV setup)

of course you need 5.1 as budget is no problem...a 3.1 is good for tight bughet..
yes speakers behave diferrebtly with different amp..
demo/audition is the solution

i will go for a demo to 2-3 different places by next week and take the final call. Will listen to KEF R series first. Thanks

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
