hi this first time I am going to set up a home theater.
I brought a denon 1612 for 21k first and then I purchased pro fx fusion 5s bi polar speakers (5 numbers ) to use as satellites and center. I spend 2500/- for each speaker. I did so because of limited budget. I am going to use it in my main hall. will that be ok ? I mean bi polars as center and front channels ?

now what I am looking for is a sub (used one ) around 5k to 7k. please give your comments

yes is that wrong ?

can't I use that as satellites ?

Its not recommended to use Bipoloar speakers as center/Front speaker. Its designed to use as surround speakers in the back.

If you use biploar speakers as center/front - the sound stage will not be correct. You might feel like you are listening the sound from Auditorium and there will be more echo.

Try to replace bipolar with actual center/front speakers.

This seems to be a very strange advice from the vendor.

In reality bi-polar speakers can be used only as surround speakers. It is not advisable to use it even for rear/back surrounds.

Cheers

those bi polars are originaly part of pro fx fusion 5. it is used as surround rear.

I was not aware of bi polar design features and impacts so I brought it from a guy not from a shop. my though was that since it's surround speakers it should not be a problem whether its front surround or back surround, though I was skeptical about using it as a center channel.

now that I brought it is there any particular positions where I can place the speakers to minimise the bad effects, echo or what ever ?

Why don't you exchange it with Front with Center speaker as your bi pole speakers are still new vendor might replace it.

how about adding a amp and use those speakers as side and rear surround. how much will a amp costs me ? what should be the minimum power out put of the amp ?

The Denon 1612. if I am not mistaken is a 7.1 channel
However 5 channels are amplified and the 2 channels are not powered and you would need a Power amp to power it up.

Since it will used for surrounds, you do not need a lot of Aompification power. However a 40-50watt should be more than enough
However sourcing a 2 cahnnel Power Amp would be a issue . As most Power amps for home use are relatively pricey and may cost more than your Denon 1612.
Look for pre owned Amps . However I doubt that you will find anything under 10 - 15k .
So the entire exercise is futile.

It makes more sense you give back the speakers you don't need (x3) and replace it with a Proper Front and Center speakers. and use the Bipole for surrounds

The centre speaker should not be a bipole, neither should the fronts. The centre provides the dialogue and is an essential speaker.

Bipolars are for surround and surround back channels to get a diffuse surround sound pattern.

hi I have a doubt.

my rear bipolar speakers are 6 ohm, so if I am to get a pair of front channel should I buy 6 ohm only or 8 ohm will also work?

please give an advice . thanks in advance

I am thinking about buying this for 7.5 k" (used one.). so before I buy I need some advice about

6 ohm bipolar and 8 ohm book shelf compactability

will demon 1612 be able to drive it

Linto,

Those Stereo speakers would be good for Front(R+L), u can use it for 2 channel amp later too. Good Choice:)
Anyways Hunt for a Good Center speaker and make ur Set-up ready, All the Best.

Then Reg to your Sub, you can Opt for some pre-Owned stuff from any of FM, try, u may get it soon

thank you very much for the reply.

so I am going for the kill assuming it is OK to connect 6 ohm rear and 8 ohm front channel speakers. my center also is 6 ohm.

Curious to know who suggested to buy 5 bipoles.
If it was a seller maybe people should consider to blacklist him on this forum by not recommending that seller. What we want is for people to make money by ethical means.

If the seller himself didnt know that bipoles are not for center and fronts, then in my opinion, he has no business selling hifi stuf. Let him sell BOSE or else ;)
