Just got the BlueSound Node 2. Hooked up TIdAL. Sounds wonderful. Blows players like Sonos ,Apple TV out of the water. App is a bit buggy though but i guess next few upgrades should fix minor issues. have it conneccted on Optical to my AudioLab CDP . Picks up hi rez files from my library flawlessly as well. Great buy for the money. Highly recommended.

I have BSN2 and Marantz NA6005. BSN2 is brand new and not even powered on.. I plan to sell out BSN2 and to keep NA6005
Can anyone suggest any valid reason to prefer BSN2 over NA6005 or vice versa. pls note that DSD has no significance for me to decide either player.
I use PM6005 as Amp.

I would keep the BSN2 as it has TIDAL integration . Also i think the BSN2 going by the reviews is a much more matured device as far as streaming capabilities go whether it be the app or sheer feature list as compared to the marantz. Having said that im sure the marantz is no slouch when it comes to sound quality going by marantz legacy.

Wish you had posted ur BSN2 for sale just a few days earlier..

Hi SaurabhK,
How do you get Tidal working in India? My name is also Saurabh Kumar anyways

Hi iscream. If you are going to be selling either the Marantz or the blue sound node I would be interested

If i move from saavn pro (ipad) >dragon fly DAC > amp > spkrs "to" saavn pro (ipad) >BSN2 > amp > spkrs does it make a difference? Is it becouse BSN2 would link access saavn pro and play via its superior DAC ?
Thanks.

I meant BSN2app on ipad that will access saavn pro >BSN2 > amp > spkrs does it make a difference? Is it because BSN2 would l access saavn pro via Wifi and play via its superior DAC ?

BSN2 does not support saavn . i.e you will not be able to play saavn pro thru bluesound node . You can only play apps supported by BSN on the player. However bluetooth is possible but wud sound bad.

To explain more clearly , you need to use the BluOS app to access the BSN2 device. The BluOS app only contains certain in built streaming services ( eg: Tidal, spotify etc) and Saavn is not amongst them. However you can connect using the Saavn app from ipad using bluetooth which doesnt sound good at all.

Thank you for the response. This helps understand the limitation of BSN2 from a Saavn app perspective .
Are there any other streamers that support the Saavn app.?

Any streamer is about convineince. And a large part of that experience is the behaviour of the control app. I have a bluesound powernode controlled via their blueos and a marantz sr6011 controlled via its app. The blueos is light years ahead of the marantz, when it comes to promptness and reliability of operation. I never tried the NA6005, so can't comment on how it works. But going by my experience so far, I would tilt in favour of the bluesound node 2. It is just that the blueos and hardware are designed from the ground up as a streaming platform.

What streamer services are available in India that can support the BSN2 ? I think Tidal and spotify are not supported in India

Ive only used tidal so far. Use a VPN on your phone or laptop and login from a remote server in the USA. Open a tidal account. Once your tidal account is activated, you won't need a VPN anymore. Go into the tidal app in the blueos and login with these credentials and you are good to go play. This also works in my Yamaha wxc50. Though the same didn't work with Spotify.

Since you are using an iPad why dont u get an Airplay streaming device. You will be able to stream almost any app through the iPad using airplay. ( not BLuesound though as it doesnt have built in Airplay). Not aware of any streamers whihc support Saavn specifically though.

Wireless :Iam aware that ipad mini can connect via airplay to bsn2i and via BT
Wired Connection :using a usb cable will the iPad connect to bluesound node 2i ? (The iPad mini will use the mandatory lighting to usb adpator).

Why’d you want to play through USB instead of AirPlay? AirPlay has the convenience of sitting anywhere with your iPad and comfortably exploring and playing music. By the way, with Spotify and Tidal you get best of bot worlds - remote control through app as well as native playing for sound quality simultaneously.

Bluesound is being sued by Sonos for multiple infringements. Do consider in your buying decision if that’s important to you.

Just wanted to know if playing through usb is possible?
What are the other alternative brands? iam looking at Arcam but it does not have BT and I don't want one more device for BT.Also it playfi ...not sure if it's that easy to use a blusound os.

From what I gather, Bluesound has the best OS among all, it’s actually it’s plus point. If you are keen on sound quality, then look beyond, unless you aren’t going to use its DAC. Arcam should be good. I am happy with Cambridge CXN. But they are costlier than BS. One can attach an antenna (to be purchased separately to CXN) for Bluetooth. But u. But I don’t undertand why you prefer inferior Bluetooth connection over Wifi?

By the way, a glance at BSN2i’s spec sheet on their website shows:

Bluetooth Quality
Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD wireless built-in

Bluetooth Connectivity
Two-Way (transmit & receive)

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
