I have done a bit or trawling, but have ended more confused. I own a SONy MHCD 919AV and now wishing to upgrade. My primary use of the 5.1 will be for music. The budget is 120K. I find SOnodyne ( 2605+1501+2501+R-EARS+ROAR108) + Denon good on specs. Alternatively Bose AM15 series 3+Denon. I recently auditioned PSB( imagine mini+alphaCR1+alphar1+sub275)-this goes out of the budget.
Help me please!!!

If music is going to be your primary objective then should go with a stereo amplifier and quality speakers, Floor standers. With 120K budget you can have musical bliss in your room if you pick and choose carefully.
Then if you do not wish to miss out on the movie 5.1 fun, get an AVR of your choice and speaker package. In my opinion Sonodyne will be better than the Bose.

Why do you want to go for 5.1 channels if it is for music?
Let us know your musical taste and sound quality you like to suggest you something worthwhile at your budget. Also, are you open to used gears?

5.1 because I will kicked out of the house, if I spend that kind of dough for music. I listen to Pinkfloyd, Ledzep on one spectrum and mehdi hassan on the other side. used gears-no.

why not strike some deal give and take;) or better, i have experienced emotional blackmail work best among all age group.

but if still you have to have to go for 5.1 then setup with some very good bookshelf or floor standers and AVR(i would say 80-85k for this) and rest you can divide between woofer and satellite. This way you can put the AVR in stereo mode and enjoy.

You can even do away with the sub and just buy two fronts and a stereo amp.

help on buying AV reciever

I have zeroed down to Polk TSX 550T for the fronts and TSX 150C for the center. For the surrounds will use the Sony bookshelf speakers that I have. Need advise on a suitable A/V reciever and a sub.

I hope this setup is for 5.1..... Juz my 2 cents, You don't need huge towers for movies.... A Simple sat/BS + Sub can do wonders for movies......

Instead spend on AVR + 7.1/7.2 setup & floor your family members :ohyeah:

Finally bought Marantz SR 5008; Sonodyne 2605+2501+reaars+Roar 108- got the delivery today. Thanks all FMs who helped!
