I have finally completed the 8 inch stereo speaker project that i have been waiting to do for a long time. Sounds amazing for the price i spend for this project. I used a Boston hi q 8 inch full range driver fitted to a plywood speaker box,the total amount costing to 2800.As far as sound it can go only as low as 250hz but the mids on these is absolutely beautiful the treble is decent nothing great, overall it's a great home theatre speaker and must be paired with a sub to get its full potential.Currently powering with a 10 w per channel lepai amplifier. With 95 db power rating even t class amp can push it to loud

Only 250hz can you share the T/S parameters?
Found these after seeing another diy project with these drivers in hifivision itself try to find
Speaker Series HiQ
Speaker Type Full Range
Nominal Diameter 8"
Power Handling (RMS) 25 watts
Power Handling (max) 40 watts
Impedance 8 ohms
Sensitivity 93 dB @ 1V/1m
Frequency Response 105 - 18,000 Hz
Cone / Diaphragm Material Paper Cone
Surround Material Paper Accordion Surround
Shape Round

It says 100hz but to my ears it's not don't know it's because of the lepai amp or not

Yup I got the same ones HQ48414 8" ones...any schematics for the speaker box...from the pics looks like you picked the ported design...also do you get any Bass from these speakers....i made a few test ones....barely any Bass...Infact mines could need a tweeter too

I am running hi q in a sealed box.
On my nad 3020, with loudness on, and bass at +3, the bass is acceptable. Nothing too low, but at least Jim reeves has enough authority to his voice

Bass is there, tested some Bollywood and Tamil A.R Rahman songs and they are amazing to listen to even without the subwoofer. If you put this woofer in a properly designed box it would sound really nice.Just watched the Dark Knight movie with the sub and this makes one hell of a hometheatre speaker. You don't need sub if you listen to melody type songs but for modern songs and movies definitely needs a subwoofer.I have shared the link earlier check it for schematics

I really miss my Marantz amp,it sounds really good even with a lepai amp i should really get a better integrated amplifier.Nad 3020 would be great match for this,do you think there is any mod to increase bass.I have one more pair of these left.I am considering doing a 3 way speaker with this woofer as mid range and another tweeter for treble and woofer for bass

Didn't follow any particular schematics, design is really simple, from the pictures itself you will get an idea.Follow the instructions, went with high quality plywood that is why the price has gone up to 2800 you could do for even less.Stuffed wool from old pillows and put a PVC pipe on the port that is basically it

Will there be any difference between sealed and ported box, gone with ported because the driver is already lacking bass

I think trying to coax bass out of this speaker in the sub 100 hz area is a lost cause. If you can't have a sub, then a port might help keep the LF response up in the 100-250hz region.

I am using mine with a Peerless TL25SN
