got a set of sonus fabers (bookshelf fronts and center) arriving in mumbai in a few days. got to bring it to bangalore. each weighs like 10 kgs.

what is better/safer :

to bring it personally in flight (commercial flight like kingfisher, spice jet etc)

or

to courier it using bluedart etc?

appreciate any insight.

If they are in the original packaging and it is in good condition, you can courier it. I brought my (now sold) 5.1 setup from KL and it was nightmarish.

i am only concerned about domestic carriers. i have brought tons of audio equipment from the usa without any issue.

Baggage handlers all over the world are the same. If the packaging is solid, you really should have nothing to worry about. Choose a reputable courier company like Blue Dart or equivalent and you should be set. Insure to be extra sure.

Give a complete written declaration of what is the item, contents and & present market value .Label it as fragile item and send via any reputable courier. I am sure they will do a better service.

If you have original boxes, you can get them couriered otherwise carry them in your suitcase with lots of extra padding in your flight....just got the harbeth Compact 7 in a suitcase from Singapore - one in original packing and checked in and the other speaker in my checked in baggage .... Had bought bookshelves earlier also from the US in the checked in baggage thrice ....

i dont think i would want speakers tumbling all over those conveyor belts while taking it on a commercial flt with you. pack it well and courier it. even road transport should be safe

congrats panditji! call me when free. I need to visit your place. I have shifted closer to your place :)

Its always better to have an eye on it all the while when you are transporting to save the trouble.
Why don't you drive down from Mumbai to Bangalore.
Good packing and carrying it in the flight with you is any day a better option than couriering it.
Always there is some damage or the other when couriered

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
