Hi All,
I have decided to go with Andrew Jones speakers after reading a lot. However receiver, I haven't been able to settle on one to be used for 40% movies and games, 60% music

Wish list
Powerful enough to drive Andrew Jones without fatigue
Reliable and without complaints
> about 40k
A usb port which can play from plugged in Android phones and HDD
3 HDMI input
Automatic calibration
OSD for settings on tv

No need 3d,4k,networking, pandora, airplay etc

Marantz are more musical than Denon, which are more 'punchy'. Yamaha are typically neutral (as per the tons of reviews and opinions about them). I've personally not compared all three though.

Not many of them would actually read a USB HDD. Test out that feature personally before you buy it.

you must look for marantz as mentioned above. Any avr should be easily able to drive the aj's at the 40k price mark. I have the denon avr-x500 and at profx they said that this avr will drive most of the speakers available. Also i am missing out on the front usb port. so better buy an avr with front usb input as its much easier to just plug and play

I have a Yamaha AVR and i heard it would go well with AJ . You can go with Yamaha as well. I am planning for AJ speakers as well by early next year ;)

The dealer told me Yamaha 377 is not strong enough to drive AJ speakers. Hence he proposed Pioneer 523 avr. Marrantz I have heard are very good quality and musical but very delicate and sensitive.

Hence denon x500 or pioneer 523(no OSD is the only problem) or yamaha 377 is what I know available in this range. If I buy a used avr, would denon 1312 be enough?

at 40k please go in for denon avr-x1000 available below 40k or go in for x2000 - expensive but its a 7.1 you can add two more speakers if needed and you wont be disappointed by it.
For your need avr-x1000 fits in perfectly. Since you have considered pioneer vsx-523-k also look at vsx-823-k. If i were to make a decision i would go with denon avr-x1000 Since it also comes with network features+usb port. Price also is not very high that you have to increase your budget. I guess thats what you are looking for. Somehow i dont like pioneer avr's. This is my personal opinion. No offence to owners of pio avrs

I personally use Yamaha 473 with the FS52/C52 and it drives them beautifully. The AVR is never out of breath for regular movie watching. Typically for blurays and FLAC, I have not had to crank up the AVR more than -15.0 and that itself is pretty loud for my L shaped hall.

I have just bought Denon x1000 @ Rs. 35K with bill and warranty for AJ speakers which i will be getting in few days.

Thanks for all the opinions, helps and advice.

Finally I bought AJ 5.1(45k) with Pioneer 523-K(25k) from Geo Enterprises(Cable was 60rs/m,I took about 30m in all). Geo was very nice and helpful and helped with installation.Service issues and long lead time of denon put it off and yamaha(newer models seems to have some power issues according to them). So i chose Pioneer 523 which was a bit cheaper as well. Lack of OSD via HDMi was a concern before purchasing; but even without a TV, I have had no problems in setups and changing settings. MCACC setup was also pretty good and I had to turn up only the bass a bit(not because it was wrongly configured, but because I like more). Aj speakers are good and live up to the expectation propagated by internet.Though SUB was termed in adequate,I found it to be enough at about 60%.

I had a slight issue with 5.1 pass through initially and rebooting the pc and resetting the receiver fixed it. USB disks I had are not recognized,I didn't spend much time trying to(the need to be FAT32 or FAT 16). In all everything is good and I am very satisfied.

What remains is somehow to hang/put the rear speakers on wall.Any pointers for this one?

congrats mate. :clapping:

even i'm thinking to buy the stands for the surrounds. those are huge to wall mount :p

These are quite popular for mounting heavy bookshelves. You may get one at Avenuesound or via iShopinternational

Congrats maestro,
How is sub performing in movies? I auditioned 5.1 and it was awesome, but i still deffered the SUB.

let me know your experience how is it, do you feel somewhere it is not able to tolerate.

I think it can be obtained in 10K, if i want to.

Sub I found it initially to be bad. However I realized soon after reading the manual that there should be something wrong with auto setup.I re ran the MCACC and saw that sub was kept at -6dB.I increased it to +3 and now the walls are vibrating from heavy bass. I will add a piece of marble and carpet below it to make it more refined.I am not an audiophile and is happy with the sub and speaker set. The bass is good for me at 50%.

Have you watched any movie like transformers etc? how are the very low frequencies doing?

I haven't seen Transformers per se,but Matrix revolutions(The thud when empty bullet shells fall to ground can be felt) and for music,I can feel something hitting on the chest. This effect was made more by settings all speakers to small and increasing cross over.I am going to put a nice base for the sub.Now the positioning is in a corner which is not the best for a down firing sub.So it will be even better.

If budget is a concern, this is the best you can get at the price. Use it for a few years before you decide to upgrade. Trust me, you can do a lot with the room instead of just increasing the budget. I regret not getting the sub along with the 5.0 system and opting for an Astonia.
