Dear friends, i have Onkyo AVR with Taga 606C SE 5.0 and XTZ Active subwoofer.
Since i am very much disappointed with Music performance, i have decided to buy Fosi Audio P3 Pre amp and Fosi ZA3 Amp and going to pair it with taga 606C SE towers. Is it a good set up? Any cheaper or little costly better options? Also, can i use my XTZ Powered Subwoofer for 2.1 set up with this ZA3? Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Hi,

I cannot give you an expert opinion but I can share my recent experience. I am also in similar boat, finding something missing while listening to music in my decades old Marantz AVR and Wharfedale 9.1 fronts. So I decided to try out the Fosi ZA3 amp, connected to the preouts of my Marantz AVR (you could also do the same, any specific reason why you also want a Preamp ?) and driving the same Wharfedale speakers. The initial impression was the music sounded more clear, a higher fidility and more smooth and pleasing to the ears, with a slightly more pronounced high range. Female vocals came through so clear, it was like she was singing in front of me. Male vocals and lower bass sounded a bit laid back though - e.g Sad But True by metallica, could not feel the power of the bass guitar or the vocalist. Below 100 Hz sounds anyway taken care of by the subwoofer.
Other observation is that the volume control on the ZA3 needed to be kept at maximum, to match levels on the centre/surround (which were still connected to the AVR). There is no auto off feature so I need to manually switch on/off the Fosi everytime (along with the AVR and the subwoofer !)
The ZA3 can be bought on a 10-day returnable basis from Amazon, so you can try that to test it in your present setup and send it back if not happy !

Thank you for your reply. My onkyo AVR doesn't have pre outs. So i decided to buy zd3 which act as both preamp and DAC to combine with 2 za3s in mono mode. Also i plan to buy from USA waiting for any black friday deal. Once again thank you for your reply
