All,

I currently have a Marantz 1402 AVR and a pair of Monitor Audio BR2 bookshelf speakers. Planning to add a Sub to my system for the extra bass needed for movies. I have a tight budget of 20K.

Within this budget, is Astonia DF-1 Sub the only option? Or are there are alternatives? I read some quality issues about Astonia Subwoofer in this forum and hence a little bit apprehensive.

Please recommend. Also, what sort of cable is required to connect sub to AVR. I plan to run the Odyssey setup once I get the sub to recalibrate the system. Hope that will take care of the setup.

You can also consider Sonodyne Roar series 108 & 210 from hifimart.com where you get 10% discount......

You can also consider the Polk entry level model dont remember the model correctly... that should be anywhere between 15 ~ 20K....

Recently I listened to craftel sub in Chennai and it brought a good smile. The bass was right and good. PM me and I will give u Mark contact, check with him if he can ship. It Def was better than Astonia

Hi aadi007

I use the same AVR and Boston Acoustic speakers, now I have changed the subwoofer to Boston Acoustics ASW 650 which is indeed a performer and true value for money. I Guess the same is being sold by HiFi Mart or 25k...you may get it cheaper somewhere...check it out.

Hi,

I bought a Polk PSW 110 last month, was considering Astonia but passed because of quality issues. Works great, costs about 15 K.

Regards

I have an Astonia and even though it's a good sub at it's budget, it does have some quality issues which I faced in the past. Right now too I cannot crank it all the way up as it clips badly in some scenes. When the volume knob is around 50% it works fine. For the sub, I'd recommend saving some more and go in the band of around 25-30K if you want to get some good quality bass.

Thanks for \your replies...

If I am willing to extend my budget till 25K, what would be the suggestions.
Please suggest within 25K only..I can go to 26 but not to 30 in any way.

I had listened to Polk 110 sometime back but did not like it.

Polk PSW 10 - Rs.16,428/-

Sonodyne 108 - Rs.18,190/-

Thanks, which one would be your recommendation among these?
Higher price does not mean it's better I guess.
Any reviews of the products mentioned?
Please suggest.

Also, let me know where can I buy these products at the prices mentioned?
