Any one have idea about good carpentry workshop in Pune?

I am looking for a workshop instead of getting speaker boxes built by a carpenter at my place because of the below reasons
1) Had bad experience with carpenter doing circle cutting, circle was not smooth as it was cut using a drill machine and not proper circular cutting tool.
2) Panels were not exactly equal there was difference of 1mm or so may be because there was not enough space or proper bench to hold plywood while cutting.
3) Edges were sharp, again may be due to lack of proper sanding tools.
4) I assume that workshop will have proper space and tools and skilled carpenters.

Even I am interested. There are many laser cutting shops here in Pune. Can they be of use for precise cuttings in MDF? Would they be too costly?

You should get this done from a CNC shop, I think its there in Kondwa side and in Pimpri/Bhosari side.

Finally I found one shop which have CNC cutting.
I purchased greenply water proof MDF (Pink Color) from a plywood shop in Hadapsar and got the cutting done(except circle) from Balaji Furniture in Kharadi (next to Sundar Ghar furniture shop).

Still searching for someone who can cut circles for speaker mounting.

Why don't you just get a small router and do it. It's easy. Lots of low cost routers available now. Since labour is expensive nowadays , maybe the router cost will not be an issue ?

The simplest way to learn is to get the basic tools for cutting, drilling and rubbing. Then get some ply wood and practice. You can never get it right the first time so some trail and error with samples give you practice. For cutting speaker hole, you'd need a jig saw and not a drill.

A lot of demo videos are available on youtube, with regard to carpentry. I built my Garrard turntable plinths by myself and got the finishing done professionally. The whole thing for both plinths got done under 10k with dust cover and all. When I engaged outside help previously, inclusive of conveyance and incidental expenses, two plinths cost me around 23k and the workmanship can be deemed as poor, by my standards.

Why not going for cnc cutting for the hole? It's worth giving a shot IMHO. Alternatively, you can look for a guy who makes traditional switch board. They might be able to help.

The router is the neatest way to cut the round hole. Even other shapes are easily possible. Especially useful if you want a section cut only to a small depth to take a flange.

Which CNC machine was this that could only cut straight lines and not circles?

There was a circular saw mounted inverted on table and there were huge planks which can slide on both direction.
Shop owner said this is cnc but i am not sure if this is real cnc machine. But it did the cutting very well, I am happy with cutting.

BTW I have dremel tool and circular cutting extension also. I will try using this on a separate plywood, if successful then will use the same. Problem with dremel is it uses drill bit for circular cutting which is not very effective, it starts burning plywood and drill becomes very hot. Will try cutting 2mm at a time.

On a short trip to Pune a year or so ago, I glimpsed a speaker cabinet
workshop. It was on the road from Bombay Sappers towards
the airport - it was on the right, near to a fairly big intersection.
From google maps, I am guessing this was Vishrantwadi area.

The cabinets looked pretty well made. Looked like particle board.
Particle board is supposed to be a pretty decent material for speaker boxes.
The round cut outs seemed to be very good.

I am sure the workshop can make some very good speaker boxes, provided
the proper inputs and materials.

Dremel is simply not the tool for the job, though.

I Got the circle and flush done myself using black and decker router. But it needs some practice. I under estimated the dust saw coming from the MDF's. Did the work inside my flat and almost been kicked out by better half :)

I know that area. I commute to office everyday from same road. Those 2-3 shops, guys just do it in bulk and its mainly for DJ stuff. They are mostly disinterested into small scale and out of the routine work. But if you take design to cut holes etc, they cut it, but no millimeter precision. They are trained to their stuff which gives them maximum output in number of boxes per day.
For millimeter precision I took it to area near Phule Mandai where lot of people cut designs into wood. There I got precision of 1mm. I paid 10 Rs per hole and it was cheaper to get transported planks there than investing into tool.

Thank you everyone for your valuable suggestions.
I will try going to phule mandai, do they cut circular slots also?

Yes they cut any shape. Move from mandai to cross Bohri lane. There see at left or ask anybody.
Generally I mark cutting 1mm inside and later finished with file.

Wow new meaning for CNC :). It sounds more like a tablesaw or panel saw.
