Cleaning Amplifier Pots and switches

Hi!

Some of my amplifiers that I don't use that often have developed crackling sound when the volume controls are use.

What is the best way of maintaining them regularly.

Some of the suggestions that i recieved offline are as follows and each one has been run down by the next guru who then proposes his favourite method!!

1. CRC contact cleaner will clean but supposedly corrodes the tracks

2. WD 40 will lubricate but not clean.

3. Heated coconut oil!!

4. Machine oil to lubricate.

5. Change pots whenever they crackle, a bit difficult for 20-30 year old amps where equivalents are not available

The reviews for Deoxit are very good, but which is the one to buy?

I've used D5S6 on pots with good results & no problems Gopal... Deoxit 5 is a contact cleaner with a lubricant in it...
I don't know if any other Deoxit is specifically made for carbon track pots etc. never tried it.

Clean with Deoxit 5 and then lubricate with Deoxit Fader spray.
