The lens adjustment feature in 8100 is worth it. Rest nothing would matter much. Getting adjustment of 6100 for the first time is a tough job to do but once done with fixed mountings it is a good to go PJ !

PQ is of 6100 cinema like. Could not notice much difference with 8100. Not much adjustments to do ! Out of box setting itself is good enough. I have used a bit of Key Stone adjustment and could not find any difference in PQ. If you have good BDP with up scaling feature than even DVD's look excellent. Had read somewhere that PJ's are for Blu Rays so was worried but now enjoying my DVD's collections as well. 3D brightness is superb and PQ is awesome with a lit bit of cross talk in 3D in fast scenes which would otherwise be there in every home theatre PJ I think. TV watching is good only in HD channels. But watching HD channels on a Big Screen is an experience. I was watching a premier league soccer match a few days ago and it was like watching it live in the stadium coz their camera movement was so close and clear !! Samsung 3D glass worth Rs 1300 goes well with it and no need to buy extra and expensive Epson glasses as in 3D feature is just for the sake of it and you would hardly watch 3D movies. the service of Epson is excellent. Out of curiosity I called them for some adjustment I was not able to do and they came next day at the time I was convenient with. The SQ of the speakers too are decent with stereo effect ( better than any LCD/LED). Clear PQ with ambient lights ( not with tube lights on of course).

I think you will not regret buying either of the 2. And go for maximum size screen your room and watching distance can accommodate. Bigger the better !!!
I will second whatever MZB said on all points.
One thing to note about lens shift. Someone suggested making a wooden box, and mounting this PJ "inside" the wooden box and place the box on a high shelf. That way you get pseudo lens shift by moving the wooden box itself. In this PJ only horizontal lens shift is really missed not vertical (vertical can be adjusted using the screen's black top border in a pull down screen).

PJ generates a lot of heat. Wont the box restrict the free air flow ?
