Hello everyone,

Perhaps this doesn't warrant a thread of its own, but don't know how else to ask this. I have an Edifier DA5000 pro speaker system that was connected to my PC till now:

I have to buy a budget AVR now. My doubt is, whether the DA5000 Pro speakers (minus the sub ofc) can be connected to it? What all specs would need to be checked for compatibility? And lastly, would this be a good idea afterall? :D

TIA.

Hi

You need to match the tech specs of the speakers and avr...usually Comp speakers are 4ohms or less...

Most AVRs are 6ohms and above.....the speakers may work...you run a risk of blowing the speakers....making the avr run output at 4 ohms...leads to heating issues....

I know the Edifier speakers are really neat.....you may need to settle for local amps like Telome / DNM etc...which can easily drive these speakers...

BTW.....the signal from PC to these Edifier speakers was through analog stereo jack...no so true 5.1 output......
