Contour 1.1 eyes closed - if you have an amp to drive it. However I'm sure its more than 4 years old - 14 is more like it.

Pick the Contour before someone else does. You can always save up to buy an amp fit for it. But yes, you have been warned, wimpy amps need not apply.

PSB Image T6 is a very good speaker and is listed on the Stereophile 2012 Recommended Components list.

2012 Recommended Components Loudspeakers | Stereophile.com

Scroll down to Class C - Full Range. Its a $1300 speaker being compared to $3500 - $4000 speakers. At 58K the PSB Image T6 is a bargain. The T6 also benefits with a reasonably good amp. It will run with regular amps but pair it with something more and it starts sounding really special.

The dynaudio 1.1 is good but can't be 4 years old. Even the 1.3se has been out of production for more than 5 years. The 1.1 is 2 generations older.

The image series is not in the same league as dynaudio contours IMHO

Agree. I have T6. When paired with a couple of average AVR's it played ok. When I played it with Marantz 7005, and it came to life. It is a 4 ohm load and needs an amp which can deliver decent amount of power.

You are better off with the contour if you must have the dyn compared to the excite. It'll have a much better cabinet and drivers. Just make sure it sounds right.

Not saying that at all. However, the PSB designs are very capable and a common occurrence is to pair the entry level series with ordinary electronics. Bump up the electronics and they sound amazing. The tweeter is the same right through to the Synchrony Series and the ceramic woofers are also the same as used in the next up Imagine Series.

I've heard the synchronys with some fairly high end electronics and prefer the dynaudio contour 1.3se by a margin. Have also heard the image 6 with very good upstream gear. They are competent speakers IMHO but nothing exceptional. The new imagine mini bookshelf and t2 towers are much better to my ears

Few members asked me the locationnof these deals.

Pls note these are all in a overseas location.

I just want you peoples advice regarding the virtues and merits of these items.

Regards

Are 14 yr old speakers safe to buy from overseas? As they are from abroad, you may not have heard them? Also do the speaker internals deteriorate after 14 yrs?

If you are buying abroad then a bookshelf is a better option. Shipping the speakers here will be something that will add to the cost.

It is a good idea to consider the opinion of fm's who have seriously auditioned or owned good speakers. But ultimately audiophilia is a lonely pursuit. You have to decide what suits your wallet and your ears the best. The pricing of the Contour 1.1 looks attractive, but the speakers would probably be considerably older than what the seller is claiming. In the 45-65K range I feel you would be better off with a lightly used, relatively new Focus 110 or Focus 140.

Have you considered buying a kit? In this price range you can get really good quality drivers. It will be easy to bring back to India and it should be easy and cheap enough to get the cabinets made in India. You might even get scanspeaks.
