Crescendo Millennium PCB

Hi Neeraj,

Hope you'd send me the BOM. No problem otherwise also; As someone pointed out, I'll dig into the post No.8. In any case, I can start the work only after I reach back home next week.

Rgds

Hi Rajesh,
Havn't mailed yet.
But it will be in your mailbox before you reach HOME:D:D

Best of Luck.

Hi ,
I have made some PCB's through a PCB manufacturer for My DIY project.
Some PCB's are are laying Unused.

1. Power Amp + Soft start
2. Required document - BOM +Article (If Needed)

Interested can contact through PM.

hello there,
I would love to build this amp;are those PCB,s,still available.please reply to
[email protected],i want to buy a couple.THANKS

Hi Quad,
Yes i do have some bords AMP+LSP+Soft Start

Hi Neeraj,

Am resident of Bangalore and very keen on building this Amp. I had built one during 90s and unfortunately don't have it with me now and trying to get all components and PCB. Let me know if you could help.

Is it possible to chat with you ?

Cheers,
Thanks in advance,
Siva

Hi Siva, I could help with PCB & copy of Article published in Elektor magazin if you need. All components should be available there in your local market. if you want to know about anything specific please let me know .
Will certainly help as far as i can.:)

Hi Neeraj,

Thanks for replying.
Please send me your contact details to my email siva (dot) vivi (at) yahoo.com.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, But lately, there have been a lot of noise in the DIY community regarding this amp- about instability problems, heating up of output devices, oscillations and so on. I would suggest serious reserch before attempting to buld this amp.

Thanks to Neeraj for Starting this thread. & Very much Thanks to Quad for Proving the link of this Amplifier in PDF format. This was a great use for me to make the PCB's.

So Now I am trying my Hands on this Project... Till Now Completed atleast 70% of Work. I Have done with Printing PCB'S, Itching, Drilling and Completed Assembling most of components.

I Faced a lot of Difficulty in gathering all the Components but the most difficult were,
1) 2.2uf MKT Capacitor, I have used 2.2uf 50V NON Polar Capacitor.
2) 0.22E/5W low inductance Resistor so i have to use 0.25e/5W Resistor.
3) 180nf Capacitor, i have used 150nf,
Its very difficult to get those components mentioned above in Local Market here.

Forth Problem will be the Coil which is wrapped around resistor, its not a major problem though I will sort it out anyhow.

Now the Main Problem is with the Main Components They are still beyond my reach. The Mosfets, 2SK1530, 2SJ201 & 2SK537. I Need help to get them, It will be of great help if someone on our Forum can find them for me. I Would also like to know what could be the Cost of this Mosfets. I need 2 Nos of Each.

I think the instability was mainly related to the original Crescendo and mini-Crescendo of the '80s, and most of the issues had been fixed in the Crescendo Millenium, from the Y2000.

I agree with you that there are many better sounding and more stable amps that are the result of improvements in simulation capability, which are accessible to anyone with a PC, Spice and the time/inclination to experiment.

IMHO, the sonics of the BJT amps like the Leach, Symasym, Blameless and many others are better than the Crescendo family, but YMMV. For a recent lower-power all-BJT power amp, check out the MX50-SE by LJM at diyAudio. High-quality power BJTs are readily available at a fraction of the price of Lateral MOSFETs, and you can be fairly certain that they're authentic, unlike most Lateral MOSFETs available locally.

Hi All.

Sorry for my links i didnt noticed they were not shared publicly. Now they can be viewed. Sorry Once again.
