Crossover settings

after being at richer sounds today I was advised to upgrade my centre speaker. I did this and got the dali zensor vokal. Sounds really good with my new sub (CA minx 300) although I am very confused about my crossover settings after doing an auto cal
fronts qacoustice 1020's = 50Hz
centre dali zensor vokal = 40Hz
gale 1030's = 100HZ

after reading up on some crossover settings the fronts and centre see quite low? should I be raising the crossover to around about 80HZ or leaving them as they are? I am really impressed with the sound just now but as I say confused about crossover settings.

also my LPFof LFE is set to 120Hz and my sub is at full with half volume and 0 gain.
should I do any tweekin? thanks

The crossover may be different for different locations of the sub in different sized rooms. while there is no ideal setting that fits all you can still try this
your fronts and center are both capable of playing low freqs, but if you want to take low freqs from sub only then set the crossovers for your fronts at 80hz/90hz and center to around 100 to 120 hz. Set the LPF for LFE to 80 / 90Hz (sane as your fronts) which would then mean that from all channels whatever is above 80Hz (or 90Hz) would be cut off and played via your sub. 50Hz is a bit low for fronts when you have a sub,

Thanks for the advice, I have changed my settings to your suggestion, will leave it like this for a couple of days but so far it sounds pritty good thanks.

keep it at full, depending on sub specs sometimes this crossover knob at sub only works if you give the left and right channel inputs separately into the sub, of course it differs from model to model. Please check once in your manual. However common practise wise keep it at 200Hz(full) so that there is not chance of double clipping at any means (like you AVR sending less than 100 Hz signals to your sub and if your sub crossover is at 90Hz then 90 to 100 Hz will not be captured anywhere since at sub it will only play less than 90 Hz.

@ profx,I found they keep CO 120Hz. for all AVRs(Denon).THX prefers 80Hz.
Again as suggested earlier,it depends on speakers freq response.

Its always better to keep more freq than your speakers can handle.
ie.If speakers can accept 60Hz,the CO can be 70Hz or a bit more.Lastly you need to try & find the best setting in your house.I am using 90Hz.
