DD HD added on Channel no: 402 in Tata Sky

A It is for this very reason that I find the new practise of putting English subtitles on most English language channels so obnoxious.

Well Sanjay, even though I am not particularly fond of any subtitles I cannot switch on or off myself, you have to see it from another point of view. Those subs help a large number of Indians, who cannot comprehend American/British/Scottish English, and thereby misses out the context and in some extreme cases, are often clueless about the whole movie. That being said, the english subs can also be an effective learning tool for the non-proficient. But chinese subs infuriate me, as it gives me the illusion that I'm watching a pirated chinese dvd. We really should have a set of consistent standards that should empower the user to view the content the way he finds it comfortable. Wasn't that the idea of having DTH and CAS in the first place? If not where's the difference between these new fangled, encrypted technologies and the local analog cablewalla.

I understand what you are saying, but personally I am sorry but I don't accept the logic of reducing everything to the lowest common denominator. Basically people like myself who actually care about the English programming have to suffer due to the majority of those who obviously only have a cursory interest in these programs. In any case have you ever tried to follow the stupid subtitles. So many times the characters say somethign and the subtitles say soemthign else. At other times the impact of a scene, specially in comic situations, is lost because comedy is a lot about the tone and timing of dialouge delivery. In any case if we were to follow this logic, then all Hindi channels in India should add English and other language subtitles, after all a huge number of customers do not understand Hindi.

I have no arguments with this and totally agree that the DTH companies must be made to use technology to provide these services rather than finding cheap alternates at the cost of consumer convenience and rights.

Well DD HD is available at channel 402 is TS. At the moment there are only colour bars showing alongwith a logo of DD HD

Investment in ts has been repaid with interest. FIFA, Wimbeldon, CLT20, India Australia and CWG in HD. Got the box especially FIFA

Pic from TS HD, currently has colors bars.

First of all it is absolutely inappropriate of you to impose your likes and dislikes on others. If you do not care for the content on 'National Geographic HD' good for you, but that does not mean it is not atleast as important as any cricket coverage. Personally I don't care two hoots for the vast majority of channels available in India and as a matter of fact Discovery HD and National Geographic HD are amongst the very few channels that I care for. In any case even if we were to go by your limited view of NG HD and that it only has "just good looking visuals", then that is even more reason that the irritating and distracting subtitles that are marring the "good visuals" not be there.
Undoubtedly watching cricket in HD or for that matter any other sport, is a wonderful experience. But in the case of cricket, or should I say the 'glut' of cricket being played, not to mention all the scandals and scams, it has lost a lot if not all of it's attraction. In any case whether cricket holds any attraction for me or not is immaterial to the fact that it is important to you. In the same spirit, it is immaterial whether National Geographic has any attraction for you.
It is this unfortunate attitude of Indian consumers that allows these companies to take consumer rights for granted. I fail to understand what is so difficult in understanding a simple issue such as this. If the other DTH operators can get it right, then there is absolutely no excuse for TataSky not to be able to do so and customers have every right to "crib" about this, or for that matter any other issue that they may have.

Obviously you have no idea about cricket, and the controversies involved in it, as you are too busy figuring out what the subtitles mean.
If you don't like cricket fine, but don't crib about Chinese subtitles in a post that was about TATA Sky having DD HD.
It's like talking about "Munni Badnaam Hui" in an Iron Maiden Show.

And where does 'Patriotism' come from? From refraining from Chinese subs? Oh, give me a break...
If you are really Patriotic, stop buying the Chinese products, stop any of those from being imported here.... Stop.. Stop... Stop...
And don't eat Chinese food... no noodles....

Obviously you have no idea about cricket, and the controversies involved in it.
Hmm.. and you came to that conclusion, how?
If you don't like cricket fine.
Again, which part of my post did you comprehend that from?

Maybe you should first take some lessons in the English language, for you may then actually be able to comprehend people's posts. Oh and while you are at it, a few lessons in manners and on public behaviour, might not be a bad idea too.

It seems there is no TataSky logo on DD HD. That is good news. Could you please confirm whether DD HD on TataSky is in Dolby Digital or just mono/stereo.

PS: Audio is one thing that we have all, so far overlooked in the case of DD HD. The HD format is not complete without Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and I wonder if DD has equiped itself for this. After all, their signals will be provided to all participating nations for whom Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is an integral part of HD.

Hey, hello. I know you've been expecting my reply (even if you act as if you haven't been), so here we go....

I was talking about a Test Match between India and Australia, while all the controversies surrounding have been regarding the Pakistan-England series, and the Pakistan team in general. However, you have taken upon it yourself to generalize the whole issue.
You used the word 'glut of cricket', and I take offense to that. Its crystal clear that you don't understand much about the game, and thus connect 2 different events and draw your own conclusions. Your infected vocabulary suggests that you should come along with me in those public behavior lessons.

This made me conclude:

Now, if you had a 'hidden' meaning behind this particular sentence that suggested that you don't 'don't like cricket', please enlighten me...

As far as my memory goes, I don't think I've said anything offensive in my previous posts. However, it seems you take offense to anything or anyone who does not agree with you, which is obvious since you have been cribbing in the whole thread about chinese subtitles in NG HD, in a thread meant for DD HD (so much for English Language).
So, if I'm exercising my Right to speak my point of view, you have a problem.
Anyways man, enjoy your National Geography... I'll catch you later, have to go to that English Teacher, and hopefully I'll be back with better posts...

Yes, the audio frequently has nasty high pitched buzzes. This happens on the DD HD channel only, with digital sound. The video is great. This is not a Tata Sky issue because the other HD channels sound perfect. If any DD guys are reading this please fix it.

how to send a complaint to ddhd. the same audio is being carried ddsports and dd national and there is no issues in those channels. DD pls help

Finally we have a true Indian HD channel with all the AD breaks (including the onscreen ADs)

The audio quality is bad though, cracking sound, too much of bass etc!

Audio is Fixed I guess. However, from the feedback that I got from other forums is dat soem ADS are upscaled from DD's end

Audio is not fixed, watched the opening ceremony was getting excellent PQ but sound was crackling and bad. Also lot of ads and long breaks which spoilt the fun of watching the ceremony.

Yes ADS were more, the BBC online stream was fast in telecasting, I mean DD is slow by 10 mins, dat means we are not getting "LIVE feed". Shame on DD.
