please anyone can tell which one is cheap and all purpose one??

Caig DeoxIT D5 is supposed to be all-purpose one, with 1200+ applications per Caig website. I have been using it for past 3 years to clean contacts and pots of guitar processors.

Ordered Deoxit D100 from Grabmore. I've just been informed that it has been shipped from the US. Means it can take up to two more weeks to reach me. Will let you know when it arrives. They appear to consolidate shipping so it can often take a long time to leave the US.

OT, but what I usually do when needing to clean a bad contact is to spray/apply some WD-40 on it, leave it for a couple of hours, wipe it off and then remove all traces of it with Zorrik 77. YMMV.

Zorrik 77 is NOT equivalent to WD40. I think that is Zorrik 88. Or maybe I've got that backwards. Look it up please.

I'd still like to know what is your reasoning for making sure that you remove the WD40? Yes, it is a lubricant [etc] rather than a specific contact cleaner, but it also will protect against corrosion.








And don't you find that it makes the music flow? Perhaps it adds a certain oiliness

This review of DeoxIT made me LOL. Hope you enjoy it too:

I unscrewed the cabinet, stuck the red hose in right over the pot, and with two squirts all noise is gone. If I could only squirt my wife's mouth with this stuff and produce the same result.

Already, I find the sound has opened up. Highs are clearer, but easy to listen to; lows have more power and precision, mids are just there.

I'm hoping for even more when I actually spray this stuff on some connectors...

Seriously... It seems like a lot of money for a small can, but it came straight from an Indian site, with no trans-ocean freight restrictions, waiting time or hefty despatch charges. Wait... I guess the charges are built into the price. Anyway, that's fair enough.

As a trial transaction with Grabmore, it went just fine. Prompt and no problems.

Yes the can is rather small !
Looks like a lot of money for such a small can ! My D5 can is twice as big and half the cost !
The D100 costs Rs 28,600/- per liter !
That's how many single malt bottles ......let me see.....
