Decreasing the port size of subwoofer?

Is it possible to make the bass tighter if i decrease the large rectangular port of my T and W subwoofer?right now it sounds great with movies but some genre music bass needs to be more tighter less boomy

Changing port size leads to frequency change,if u have measuring tools u can try different port lengths to vary frequency,if not stick with manufacturer design
 
Well I have tried it with thermocol.I inserted in to Sw port and kept some part open.
Yes ultimate low Bass diminished and midbass sounded tighter.

Been looking into your diy jbl l300,wonderful work I hope to build a similar speaker one day.Thank you for the advice too
 
Instead of thermocol use socks,first fully stuff the port hole then,notice the sound if no improvements go on increasing the hole till your desired result.

Also play with the crossover freq on the plate amp,as you increase the cutoff freq so will the boominess decrease.

Oh no , dont even touch the port . It ill change woofer operating condition and you might face amp heating problem.
